Podcast Overview

Welcome to Ecu Radio! I'm Axel Thizon, your host, dedicated to exploring and amplifying Europe's finest potential. Ecu Radio (www.ecuradio.eu) is a one-stop news website and podcast broadcasting from the heart of Europe. As the EU is facing challenges if not threats from all sides, we're looking to: Decrypt the European Union, helping its citizens to understand their continent's strengths and challenges. Celebrate our successes and the people that make us proud. Reaffirm our core values such as fundamental rights, freedom, peace and democracy. Buy European, providing alternatives to products coming from authoritarian states or exploitative corporations. But why did it come to be? Let's turn back the clock. The year is 2025. The month is March. Europe appears surrounded. To the East, the war in Ukraine enters its third year. The conflict has taken a heavy toll on its people and cities, shattering over two decades of peace on the continent, featuring a scale of devastation not seen since the Second World War, 80 years ago. In the West, across the Atlantic, the United States is led by a president whose platform is fueled by divisive rhetoric, if not hatred. Democratic institutions are under threat, as a group of influential billionaires work to undermine civil service and suppress dissenting voices. Despite long-standing alliances and partnerships, both powers now view the European Union and its member states as adversaries to be overcome. Europe is on its own. However, it is not helpless. Because Europe is a union of 450 million people, boasting a nominal GDP of nearly 20 trillion euros. It is a global leader in science, industry, and education. It is a beacon of democracy, prosperity, freedom, and fundamental rights. It is a place where everyone is born equal and free to shape their own destiny. It is an aspiration for many countries that recognise what the continent stands for, and a dream for millions who wish to join its Union, both within and beyond its borders. Most importantly, Europe is a normative power, enforcing regulations designed to protect its people and the environment from the excesses of corporations and rival states, from unchecked capitalism, fascism, and authoritarianism. But what good are these strengths if they remain unrecognised? If the people perceive Europe as weak? If they are ready to dismantle it because they cannot see its benefits? If they fall prey to propaganda that paints a different picture? This is where Ecu Radio comes in. Our platform, though modest, addresses these concerns and provides reasons to believe in Europe's enduring strength and resilience. Hosted on Ausha. See ausha.co/privacy-policy for more information.

Europe and Digital Sovereignty: Getting Big Tech to Comply with its Protective Regulations is Easier Said than Done | Ecu Radio E4S1

Ecu Radio is back to its weekly formula, as Meta and Apple were together fined €700 million for breaching the Digital Markets Act. We'll explore how this fine came to be, what the Digital Markets Act actually is, and what it means for the European Union, as both corporations are gearing to set the Trump administration against it. Fortress Europe vs. Corporations: Tackling Enshittification and Decay Capitalism through Regulations and Strategic Protectionism

This week, Ecu Radio takes a step back from the currently flooded news cycle and dive within the concept of Enshittification. This well-documented phenomenon happens when digital platforms inevitably worsen as they prioritise squeezing users, sellers, and workers for profit. But that’s just a symptom.

It’s part of a global ailment we’ll call Decay Capitalism: a shareholder-driven race to the bottom where siphoning value matters more than creating it. A system where quality, ethics, and meaning are systematically sacrificed for speed, scale and above all, greed.

It took the world by storm, and Europe isn’t unaffected, as corporations call for the dismantling of its protective acts, if not of the Union itself. Yet it resists. Through regulations, through consumers’ rights, through stringent health and safety standards, and through a foundational, democratic respect for its citizens.

The #BuyEuropean trend might just be what strengthens its immune system.

_

👉 Support Ecu Radio on Steady here: https://steadyhq.com/en/ecuradio/about

and unlock exclusive perks such as newsletters, Q&A sessions, polls and more.

_

All content is © Ecu Radio, created by Axel Thizon.

All rights reserved.

This podcast is protected under international copyright laws.

No portion of this content may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted in any form without prior written permission from Ecu Radio. Europe as a World Leader: Dealing with Trade Wars, the AI Surge and the War in Ukraine | Ecu Radio E2S1

As the United States' democracy continues to backslide and the war in Ukraine persists, the world increasingly looks to the European Union as a respectable, viable, predictable, and, above all, sane leader. In this second episode, we explore what the EU has been focusing on, including:

The postponed trade war with the USA

Our evolving relationships with the rest of the world

The multi-institutional renewed support for Ukraine

The "AI Continent" plan to establish Europe as the leading territory in artificial intelligence

We will also celebrate Europe's commitment to peace and prosperity, highlighting the people and actions that make us proud and build our future. This includes the ongoing protests in Serbia, where citizens are fighting for a democratic, free, and fair way of life.

Thank you for listening! 📻

_

All content is © Ecu Radio, created by Axel Thizon.

All rights reserved.

This podcast is protected under international copyright laws.

No portion of this content may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted in any form without prior written permission from Ecu Radio.
