Kingdom Is Like the Treasure and the Merchant | Gavin Maree | 30 August 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. We desire to see ordinary people transformed by the love of Jesus and empowered to bring His Kingdom into their homes, workplaces, neighbourhoods, and cities. As we continue our series exploring the Kingdom of God, Gavin Maree looks at Jesus' parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl of great value in Matthew 13:44–46. Through these two stories, Jesus reveals the incredible value of the Kingdom and invites us to respond by going all in with God. In this message, we explore what it means to recognise the value of God's Kingdom, surrender control, and wholeheartedly give ourselves to Jesus. We are also reminded that while the Kingdom is something of incredible worth, we ourselves are deeply valuable to God—so much so that Jesus was willing to give everything for us. Together we'll explore: What Jesus meant when He compared the Kingdom to a hidden treasure and a pearl of great value What it means to recognise the incredible value of the Kingdom The challenge of full surrender and going “all in” with God How Barnabas demonstrated a life of wholehearted commitment to the Kingdom How God sees our value despite our failures and struggles What Jesus' sacrifice reveals about how valuable we are to Him How recognising the value God places on others changes the way we treat the people around us The areas of our lives where we may still need to surrender more fully to God The Kingdom of God is a treasure worth everything. Jesus has already demonstrated what it means to go all in for us, and He invites us to consider what it looks like to go all in with Him—with our relationships, time, finances, thoughts, families, friendships, and everyday lives. The invitation is there for each of us: Will you go all in? Scripture References: Matthew 13:44–46, Mark 4:30, Acts 4:36–37, Acts 11:24, 2 Chronicles 16:9, Matthew 16:25, Romans 5:8 For more information about Eden Ridge Vineyard, visit us in Gqeberha, South Africa, or connect with us online.

Kingdom Is For The Lost | Gavin Maree | 23 August 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our desire is to be a church that faithfully follows where Jesus is leading us, inviting others into relationship with Him and extending His Kingdom into our city. This message is part of our ongoing series exploring the Kingdom of God. This week, Gavin Maree looks at the heart of the Kingdom and reminds us that God’s heart is always for the lost. Through Jesus’ parables of the wedding banquet, the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son, we see a God who actively seeks those who are lost, overlooked, hurting and far from home. Gav challenges us to consider whether we have allowed mission drift to creep into our own lives and church, becoming more focused on what we like and what is comfortable rather than joining God in what He is doing. Together, we explore: The heart of God for those who are lost Why the Church exists to serve and advance the Kingdom of God How we can recognise and avoid mission drift What it means to create a place where people can encounter Jesus Living with expectation that God will move in our church, school, neighbourhood and city Becoming a community where the overlooked, hurting and outcast can be seen, known, loved and welcomed The Kingdom of God is not about simply building a church for those who are already inside. It is about joining the Father in seeking those who are still outside. As we clothe ourselves with the heart of Jesus, may Eden Ridge become a place of celebration, restoration and belonging—a place where those who feel lost can find their way home. Scripture References: Matthew 22:2–13, Luke 15:7, Luke 15:10, Luke 15:32, Romans 13:14 For more information about Eden Ridge Vineyard, visit us in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa, or connect with us online.

A New Purpose | Andrew Christie | 16 August 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. We desire to be a church that faithfully follows Jesus, lives authentically, and carries His Kingdom into the places and people He has called us to. In this message, we are joined by Andrew Christie from Centurion Vineyard, who brings a powerful encouragement from Philippians 1 about discovering and living from a new purpose in Christ. Speaking into the life of a growing church and a generation experiencing a growing dissatisfaction with passive Christianity, Andrew challenges us to move beyond simply being busy or making noise and instead embrace a Kingdom-centred, purpose-driven, Spirit-empowered life. Through Paul's experience of being imprisoned, we are reminded that our circumstances do not have to interrupt God's purpose for our lives. In fact, the very places we might see as limitations or restrictions can become opportunities for Jesus to be made visible. Together, we explore: What it means to live with a renewed sense of purpose in Christ Why we are called to more than simply being comfortable Christians The difference between being a noise in the storm and being a light in the darkness How God can use difficult circumstances to reveal Jesus to those around us Why we shouldn't wait for "ideal conditions" before stepping into God's calling How our workplaces, families, relationships and everyday lives can become places of Kingdom opportunity Why courage and obedience are contagious How our willingness to step forward can give others permission to do the same Why the most important thing is that Christ is preached Paul's circumstances did not stop the Gospel from advancing. His chains became an opportunity for Christ to be made known. Perhaps the question for us isn't simply, "God, when will You change my situation?" but "God, what is my assignment within this situation?" We don't need to wait for the perfect platform, the perfect season, or the perfect circumstances. The Kingdom advances through available people, not ideal conditions. Kingdom Is Like A Mustard Seed | Gavin Maree | 9 August 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. We desire to be a church that faithfully follows where Jesus is leading us, inviting others into a relationship with Him and extending His Kingdom into our city. In this message, Gavin Maree continues our series exploring the Kingdom of God through the parables of Jesus. Following the previous message on the Kingdom being like a seed, Gavin looks at Jesus' teaching in Matthew 13:31–33, where the Kingdom of God is compared to a mustard seed and yeast. Jesus' picture of the Kingdom challenges our expectations. The Kingdom often begins in ways that seem small and insignificant, but it doesn't stay that way. Like a mustard seed, it grows. Like yeast, it permeates and transforms everything around it. Together, we explore: Why the Kingdom of God often begins with small beginnings Why we shouldn't despise what God is doing simply because it seems insignificant How the Kingdom transforms us from the inside out What it means to allow God's Kingdom to permeate every area of our lives How God uses ordinary, imperfect, and willing people to extend His Kingdom Why faithfulness and obedience matter more than having everything figured out How the Kingdom growing in us ultimately leads to fruit that impacts others From Jesus beginning with twelve ordinary people to the growth of the Church around the world, we're reminded that God can take something small and use it for something far greater than we could imagine. As a church plant, this message carries a particular encouragement for us at Eden Ridge Vineyard: don't despise the small beginnings. We may begin small, but we are called to be faithful, available, and obedient as we seek to see God's Kingdom grow and impact our city. The Kingdom starts small—but it doesn't stay small. Kingdom Is Like a Seed | Gavin Maree | 2 August 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our desire is to see ordinary people transformed by the love of Jesus and empowered to bring His Kingdom into their homes, workplaces, neighbourhoods, and city. As we begin a new series exploring the Kingdom of God, Gavin Maree unpacks Jesus' parable of the sower in Matthew 13. Through the picture of seed being scattered across different kinds of soil, Jesus reveals how the condition of our hearts can affect the way we receive and respond to God's Word. This message reminds us that our hearts are not necessarily in one fixed state. There are seasons when we are open and receptive to God, and other times when worries, struggles, distractions, or unbelief can harden our hearts or choke out what God is doing. Yet wherever we find ourselves, God continues to invite us deeper. Together we'll explore: What the seed represents and how God's Word brings transformation into our lives The four different soils and what they reveal about the state of our hearts How life, fear, worries, and distractions can crowd out God's Word Why lasting faith needs deep roots rather than simply an emotional response How God meets us in our doubts, weaknesses, and struggles The importance of confessing our weaknesses and allowing others to support us in community How to take our thoughts captive and bring them under the Lordship of Jesus Why abiding in Jesus is essential for producing lasting fruit in our lives The Kingdom of God takes root as we remain connected to Jesus. We may go through different seasons, but God's grace continues to soften our hearts, deepen our roots, and draw us into greater surrender. As we abide in Him and allow His Word to take root, His transformative life begins to produce fruit through us. The invitation is simple: Where is the soil of your heart today, and what might God be inviting you to surrender so that His Kingdom can take deeper root? Scripture References: Matthew 13:1–9, Matthew 13:18–23, Mark 9:21–24, 2 Corinthians 10:5, John 15:1–5 For more information about Eden Ridge Vineyard, visit us in Gqeberha, South Africa, or connect with us online.

The Mark of a Disciple - Witness | Dave Hobson | 19 July 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our heart is to see people become lifelong disciples who know Jesus deeply, reflect His character, and bring His hope to the world around them. This message is the fourth and final instalment in our series, The Marks of a Disciple, where we've been exploring the characteristics that shape the life of someone who follows Jesus. In this concluding message, Dave Hobson unpacks the final mark of a disciple: Witness. In this sermon, Dave challenges us to rethink what it means to be a witness for Jesus. Rather than seeing witness as something reserved for evangelists or public preaching, we discover that our witness is the natural overflow of a life that truly knows Jesus. As we spend time in His presence and experience His goodness, our lives begin to reflect His love, joy, mercy, and grace in ways that draw others towards Him. Together we'll explore: What it truly means to be a witness for Jesus Why our relationship with Christ is the foundation of our witness How ordinary testimonies can open extraordinary doors for the Gospel The difference between simply knowing about Jesus and truly knowing Him The barriers that can hinder our witness, including busyness, shame, unforgiveness, and spiritual drift How God's grace invites us to continually draw near and overflow with His presence Being a witness isn't about having all the answers or saying the right words—it's about living a life transformed by Jesus. As we enjoy His presence and walk closely with Him, our lives become a testimony that points others to the hope, freedom, and abundant life found in Christ. Scripture References: Acts 1:8, Hebrews 8:10–12, Acts 4:13, Matthew 7:22–23, Hebrews 10:16–23, Hebrews 4:15–16, Hebrews 12:14–15 For more information about Eden Ridge Vineyard, visit us in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa, or connect with us online.

The Mark of a Disciple - Servanthood | Karen Maree | 12 July 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our heart is to see people become lifelong disciples of Jesus, transformed by His love and empowered to reflect His Kingdom wherever they go. This message is the third instalment in our series, The Marks of a Disciple, where we explore the characteristics that shape the life of someone who follows Jesus. In Part 3, Karen Maree unpacks one of the defining marks of a disciple: Servanthood. Drawing from Jesus' powerful example in John 13, Karen reminds us that greatness in God's Kingdom is found not through status or recognition, but through humble service. As Jesus knelt to wash His disciples' feet—even the feet of Judas—He modelled a life marked by love, humility, forgiveness, and selfless devotion. As His followers, we are invited to carry the same servant-hearted posture into every area of our lives. Together we'll explore: Why servanthood is a defining mark of Christian discipleship How a secure identity in Christ frees us to serve others What Jesus teaches us through the washing of His disciples' feet Why humility is more powerful than position or recognition How love is expressed through ordinary, everyday acts of service Practical ways to reflect the heart of Jesus in our homes, workplaces, churches, and communities Servanthood isn't simply something we do—it's a way of life. When we understand how deeply we have been loved and served by Jesus, we are freed to love and serve others without seeking recognition. As we pick up the towel instead of the title, we reflect the heart of our Servant King and invite others to encounter Him through our lives. The Marks of a Disciple - Being Family | Gavin Maree | 5 July 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our heart is to see people transformed by the love of Jesus and formed into lifelong disciples who reflect His character in every area of life. This message is the second instalment in our series, The Marks of a Disciple, where we explore the characteristics that shape the life of someone who follows Jesus. In Part 2, we look at another essential mark of discipleship: Being Family. In this sermon, Gavin Maree explores God's design for His people to live in authentic, Christ-centred community. Through Colossians 3, we're reminded that following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. As disciples, we are called into the family of God—a place where we worship together, encourage one another, extend grace, grow through accountability, and learn to love as Christ has loved us. Together we'll explore: Why discipleship flourishes in community rather than isolation What it means to belong to the family of God How intentional commitment strengthens the Church Why forgiveness, kindness, humility, and love are essential marks of Christian community How God uses community to shape, challenge, and grow us The unique role each believer plays in building a healthy, thriving church The Church is more than a gathering—it's a family. As we intentionally commit ourselves to one another, we create space for God to transform us, strengthen us, and use us to bring His Kingdom to the world around us. Disciples don't simply believe together; they belong together. The Marks of a Disciple - Worship | Gavin Maree | 28 June 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our heart is to see people become lifelong disciples of Jesus, transformed by His presence and equipped to make Him known in every area of life. This message marks the beginning of our new series, The Marks of a Disciple, where we explore the characteristics that shape the life of someone who follows Jesus. In Part 1, we focus on one of the most foundational marks of a disciple: Worship. In this message, Gavin Maree challenges us to rethink worship as something far greater than singing on a Sunday. Through Colossians 3, we discover that worship is a lifestyle—one that flows from the new life we have in Christ and influences every decision, relationship, and moment of our lives. Worship is our response to who Jesus is and what He has already accomplished, inviting us to continually fix our eyes on Him and live for His Kingdom. Together we'll explore: What it truly means to be a disciple of Jesus Why worship is more than music—it's a way of life How our everyday lives become an act of worship The difference between religious activity and genuine devotion Why discipleship calls us to surrender our own agendas for God's purposes How keeping our eyes fixed on Christ transforms the way we live As disciples, we are called to centre our lives on Jesus—not simply in moments of worship, but in every conversation, decision, act of service, and relationship. True worship begins with gratitude, humility, and a heart fully surrendered to the One who is worthy of it all. Grow Together Part 1 | Gavin Maree | 31 May 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. Our heart is to cultivate healthy disciples who love God deeply, love one another well, and bring the hope of Jesus to the world around them. This message is the third instalment in our series exploring the core values of Eden Ridge Vineyard and the first part of our second value: Grow Together. In this sermon, Gavin Maree explores God's design for Christian community and why spiritual growth was never meant to happen in isolation. Looking at Ephesians 4, we're reminded that healthy churches are built on healthy relationships—where truth is spoken in love, every person has a unique role to play, and discipleship happens through authentic community. Together we'll explore: Why God designed us to grow in community rather than alone How speaking the truth in love builds healthy relationships The importance of every believer discovering and using their unique gifts Why God's Word is essential for spiritual growth and maturity How healthy discipleship strengthens both individuals and the whole church What it looks like to be part of a thriving, Christ-centred community The Church is more than a Sunday gathering—it's a family learning to follow Jesus together. Encounter Jesus Part 2 | Simoné Strauss | 24 May 2026
Welcome to the Eden Ridge Vineyard Podcast. Eden Ridge Vineyard is a Christ-centred community in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we seek to encounter Jesus, grow together, and live the Kingdom. We desire to see people encounter the transforming presence of Jesus and become lifelong disciples who carry His hope into every sphere of life. This message is the second instalment in our series Exploring the Core Values of Eden Ridge Vineyard, and the second part of our first value: Encounter Jesus. Through the stories of Adam and Eve, Jonah, and Mary and Martha, we explore the barriers that keep us from intimacy with God and discover His gracious invitation to draw near. Together we'll explore: Why we often hide from God instead of allowing ourselves to be fully seen How our desire for control can keep us from experiencing deeper intimacy with Jesus The impact of busyness and distraction on our relationship with God Why authentic encounter requires vulnerability, surrender, and stillness How Jesus continually pursues us, even when we run from Him What it looks like to become people who help others encounter the presence of Jesus An encounter with Jesus is more than a single moment—it's an ongoing invitation into relationship.
