In this comeback episode of the Aligned & Elevated podcast, she gets honest about why: the ego behind opening a second clinic, ignoring the advice of every trusted business coach, and what it really takes to make a second location profitable. Allison also shares why closing felt freeing, how watching her team grow and launch their own paths is the ultimate measure of success, and why Body Motion is now going all in on its Edmonds, WA clinic. If you're a physical therapist or clinic owner thinking about opening a second location, watch this first. ==================================================================== 🙌🏼 Subscribe for more FREE tips around preconception, infertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and menopause tips on how to relieve pain and optimize your body for life and regain your strength so you can optimize your body for yourself and your family! 👋🏼 COME SAY HI! ✨ Find us online at: https://bodymotionpt.com ✨ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bodymotionpt ✨ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bodymotionpt ✨ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@bodymotionpt ✨ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/bodymotionpt/ ✋🏼 CONTACT US! Kegels, squeezing, and tightening are not what gets a baby out. Opening is. In this live birth prep class, Dr. Allison Feldt walks a room of pregnant women through what actually prepares the pelvic floor for delivery. The uterus does the pushing. Your job is to get out of its way by building a pelvic floor that can open, lengthen, and stay dynamic through labor. What she covers: Why a tight pelvic floor feels weak, not strong, and why muscles held tight for years develop the texture of beef jerky instead of a healthy, hydrated muscle. How the pubic symphysis separates 5 to 7 millimeters in pregnancy and up to 9 millimeters during delivery, and what happens when the pelvic floor clamps down to fight that. The exact diaphragmatic belly breath to practice 5 minutes a day, and why 360 rib breathing is the wrong tool for this job. How to poop, and why every bowel movement from here forward is a rehearsal for pushing. Open glottis pushing, plus the low tones (grr and moo) that open the pelvic floor, and why your neck and voice are directly connected to it. Why you should wait for deep rectal pressure before pushing, even at 10 centimeters. How to stay in the parasympathetic zone on the drive to the hospital so labor does not stall. And why former athletes, dancers, riders, and hypermobile bodies tend to have the tightest pelvic floors of all. She also shares the client who had a third degree tear, was told she should not have more children without a C-section, did the internal pelvic floor work during her next pregnancy, and ended up with an accidental home birth and no tearing at all. Plus her own story of nearly dying while pushing out her first baby, and how that became the foundation for the Body Motion birth prep protocol. Listen to your body first. These are general tools, and you are the one in the room. Dr. Allison Feldt breaks down how scar tissue from a C-section, appendectomy, laparoscopy, gallbladder surgery, hysterectomy, ovary or cyst removal, fibroid removal, or endometriosis resection keeps hardening and bunching up long after the incision heals. That scar tissue pulls on the organs, restricts the fascia, and drags upward on the pelvic floor until all three layers feel glued together. The symptoms rarely get connected back to the surgery: excruciating ovulation or periods, bloating and constipation, urinary urgency and leaking, difficulty reaching orgasm, pain during deep intercourse that feels like something is being hit, low back and SI pain, hip pain, sciatica, and a core that will not strengthen no matter how much you work it. She walks through the appendectomy to ovary connection through the ligament of Plica, why roughly 7 percent of C-sections lead to a bowel obstruction from migrated scar tissue, and how an old appendix scar can twist the spine into scoliosis. Most importantly: it is never too late. Whether your surgery was last year or 30 years ago, that scar tissue can be released. Body Motion uses hands on pelvic floor physical therapy and visceral manipulation to get the organs moving again, plus EPAT radial pressure shockwave, EMTT, and red light therapy to break the scar tissue down. If you know someone still searching for answers, send them this one.
