Line 3, the newest of the 3, is unique, comfortable, and seems to bring something new. From its screen-filled cars and an actually pleasant air conditioning system to its elevated stations, line 3 captures the direction of modern Cairo's urban development. Arguably, it feels more sterile compared to line 1 for example, but that is to be expected when comparing a historic piece of Cairo's history versus the newest development.

Line 2 |
Line 2 evokes an apocalyptic horror-movie aesthetic mostly because of its dreadful never-ending crowds. It does have its moments though, connecting people to the heart of central parts of Cairo and Giza such as Attaba and Cairo University.

Line 1 |
Line 1 radiates comfort and stability, the air fresh with most stations being on ground level. Since it served as the main train line from 1989 to 1996, it continues to evoke that conventionality today. One of the most prominent stations is El Shohadaa (previously Hosny Mubarak) that leads to Ramsis Square, home to Misr Station (محطة مصر) which connects Cairo to other cities/governorates. Covering El Marg to Helwan, it is rich and full of character and history having witnessed major historical events all while taking people where they need to go.

Arrival
It's 7 in the morning, the air is chilly and quiet. The slow hum of the metro can be heard before it whistles down to a stop.
