El tábano, luego de visitar a los clásicos, se dio una vuelta por los pensadores medievales. Allí encontró a Tomás de Aquino y su inmensa obra. Él considera que el Estado se encuentra prefigurado en la naturaleza humana. Y como la naturaleza ha sido creada por Dios, el Estado es deseado por Dios. En Tomás encontramos el mismo ser social de Aristóteles. Este hombre se va a perfeccionar en la polis. El Estado, consecuentemente, debe procurarles a sus ciudadanos el desarrollo moral y la felicidad.

El tábano se alejó del Estado moderno de Hobbes y Locke y se remontó a los pensadores clásicos. Allí se encontró con Aristóteles que considera al hombre como un animal político: alguien que necesita relacionarse con los demás. Y debe relacionarse para conquistar todo lo que le falta y no puede alcanzar por sí solo. En este sentido, el fin de un Estado ideal tiene que estar orientado a procurarle a sus ciudadanos una vida virtuosa y buena.

El tábano abandonó por un momento al Estado moderno y se retrotrajo a los pensadores clásicos. En Atenas, se encontró con que el hombre platónico es un ser social que busca relacionarse a los demás. Y lo hace para otorgarle a su ser todo lo que le falta y no puede alcanzar por sí solo. Por eso, el fin de un Estado ideal tiene que estar orientado a procurarle una vida virtuosa, una vida buena.
