#22 Carina Lawrence - From Melbourne to London: Building a DJ Career
Episode 22
In this episode, host Richard Q sits down with London-based DJ and producer Carina Lawrence to unpack herjourney from the underground scene in Melbourne to playing some of London’s most iconic clubs and festivals, including Fabric, Printworks, Drum Sheds, Ministry of Sound and beyond.
Carina talks openly about starting again in a hyper-competitive city, her initial struggle to get gigs, and why networking, community, and giving back to the scene have been central to her growth. She reflects on the long game of DJing, building credibility through residencies, promoting her own events, and balancing DJ life with work, health, and mental wellbeing.
The conversation also explores female representation in electronic music, the importance of preparation and craft, producing music in today’s landscape, and what it really takes to sustain a career without shortcuts.
An honest, inspiring episode for anyone navigating the realities of DJ life, underground culture, and the hustlebehind the scenes.

In this episode, I sit down with Frankey & Sandrino to dive deep into the story behind their label Sum Over Histories — from its origins to becoming one of electronic music’s most distinctive imprints.
We go back to the early 2000s, where their paths first crossed in a small club in Germany, long before their now-signature sound took shape. What started as a natural, pressure-free studio session in 2010 evolved into a creative partnership that has produced some of the most defining tracks within the scene such as their 2015 anthem 'Acamar' released on the Berlin label Innervisions.
At the heart of the conversation is Sum Over Histories — a label born not from strategy, but from instinct. Inspired by a concept in quantum physics, the name reflects their ethos: music as something open, subjective, and multi-layered — where every listener experiences something different.
