"So I've always been curious to know, do these intensive writing retreats, writing workshops or writing master classes really help in consistently improving the craft of writing? And the reason I asked that is because I've been lucky enough to be a part of the Write Club Bangalore, where, you know, since 2014, we've been meeting every single Saturday, every single Saturday, we are given a prompt or, you know, a theme or a genre in which we have to write a short story."

@Ell_P | Let's talk about the female gaze in literature, especially crime fiction

"It's not just about solving a murder, you know, but it's about understanding the emotional, social and psychological landscapes that women navigate, often within the patriarchal systems. Few of you know, the books where I have really observed this phenomena come out is, you know, one would be, of course, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, where Amy Dunne is not just a character, she's a critique."

"No, because I know that crime fiction has never shied away from the gritty realities of human nature. And, you know, it's just that for a long time, those narratives were centered around men. But I wanted to write something where the narrative changes, and it's centered around women. So if Shameless in Stilettos makes some readers uncomfortable, then good, that means that my book is asking the right questions. Fiction is not here to seek approval. It is here to reflect the truth."

@Ell_P | What happens to the investigation when the detective is just as broken as the case?

"When the detective is just as broken as the case, I believe that the lines between justice and chaos start to blur for the detective. The investigation just stops being about cold, hard facts and it becomes deeply personal. Especially if the case is similar to the kind of personal turmoil and the aspects that the detective is going through. So in my book Shameless and Stilettos, I have a very, very similar case where Inspector Meenakshi Rao, who is investigating the death of real estate tycoon Anant Reddy."
