Emi Lokan (a Yoruba phrase which translates to English as “My Turn”) is an avant-garde anthropological examination which aims to assist followers in self-development, strategising and critical-thinking by means of chronicling the biographical journeys of people from multiple walks of life and the instrumental decisions they made to bring them to the points they are at thus far.
It intends to serve as a hub for content curated for individuals who are looking to ‘level up’ by exploring the mindsets and the degree of intentionality which is required to progress in different fields.
Full Interview: Aron (Aux In) Reflects On Identity, Psychology, Youth Work & Music
In this full interview on Emi Lokan, Aron (Aux In) sits down for a wide-ranging conversation on identity, psychology, education, and purpose.
Aron reflects on seeing himself as a creative facilitator, his journey through studying psychology, and how that knowledge shaped his work with young people — not as a career path, but as a way of understanding human behaviour. He speaks openly about working in SEN schools and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), explaining why all behaviour is communication and what real support looks like behind the scenes.
The conversation also touches on Aron’s experience as a pupil at Frederick Bremer School during the filming of Educating East End, the impact of environment and representation on young people, and the influence of figures from UK culture such as TightRoadBaby.
Beyond education, Aron discusses falling out of love with psychology at university, the effects of studying during COVID, debates around trauma vs desire in human behaviour, and why psychology remains a “soft science” shaped by lived experience as much as theory.
We also discuss Silat, a non-sport martial art designed for real-world self-defence, discipline, and restraint — offering a physical counterpart to the psychological themes explored throughout the episode.
This is a candid, grounded conversation about growth, responsibility, and finding purpose without chasing labels.
