Pt. 1 - THE PRAYERS YOU'RE NOT PRAYING ARE THE PRAYERS YOU SHOULD BE PRAYING.
In the opening message of the series “8 Prayers You Need to Be Praying,” the sermon argues that the prayer we most need to pray is often the one we are not praying at all: a prayer focused not primarily on getting things from God, but on **knowing God more deeply**. Through Luke 11:1–13 and Jesus’ teaching on the Lord’s Prayer, the sermon highlights the significance of beginning with “Father,” emphasizing that Jesus invites His followers into an intimate relationship with a holy, sovereign, loving, providing, redeeming, and protecting God. Prayer is not a formula for getting God to give us what we want, nor does persistence manipulate God into answering “yes”; rather, we can trust God’s character whether His answer is yes or no. The sermon challenges believers to move beyond transactional prayers and make space for stillness, listening, intimacy, and surrender, remembering that the power of prayer comes from the One to whom we pray. The practical challenge is to spend two minutes each day for a month simply talking with God as Father—thanking Him, reflecting on His character and blessings, and intentionally seeking to know Him better.

Pt. 4 - THE ULTIMATE ARGUMENT
In the final message of the *Arguing with Jesus* series, “The Ultimate Argument,” Jesus turns the tables on the religious leaders by challenging their understanding of the Messiah through Psalm 110, revealing that the Messiah is not merely David’s human descendant but also David’s Lord—fully human and fully divine. The sermon explores how the Pharisees’ devotion to Scripture had become distorted by pride and legalism, causing them to defend their understanding of God rather than allowing God’s Word to transform them. Jesus reveals that His kingdom is not ultimately about political power, religious rules, or human arguments, but about confronting sin, death, evil, and the corruption of the human heart through the person of Christ. Drawing on John 1 and 1 Corinthians 1, the sermon emphasizes that Jesus is the *Logos*—the reason and meaning behind everything—and that God’s ultimate revelation is not merely an airtight argument but an airtight Person. The challenge for us is to allow Jesus to disrupt our assumptions, move us through the discomfort of being wrong, and continually reshape our understanding of God rather than creating a smaller Jesus who simply agrees with what we already believe.

Pt. 3 ARGUING ABOUT POLITICS
In “Arguing About Politics,” the third message in the “Arguing with Jesus” series, Jesus’ encounter with the Pharisees and Herodians over the question of paying taxes to Caesar reveals a radically different approach to politics, power, and allegiance. Against the backdrop of Roman oppression and the explosive history of Jewish resistance, Jesus refuses to be manipulated into choosing a political side or becoming a tool for either revolution or accommodation. His command to “give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s” acknowledges earthly civic responsibilities while making a far greater claim: because God’s image is stamped upon us, our ultimate allegiance belongs to Him. Christians are called neither to withdraw from political life nor to make politics primary, but to engage as faithful citizens while allowing the values of God’s kingdom—love, justice, compassion, sacrifice, and concern for the vulnerable—to shape their lives. Unlike Caesar, Jesus does not establish His kingdom through domination or political power; His kingship is ultimately revealed through the cross, where He gives Himself away for others. The church’s calling, therefore, is not to build an earthly kingdom through political power but to embody the radically different kingdom of Jesus, trusting Him with our hearts, minds, souls, and lives.
