An Update On Where I've Been & Life Lessons
A raw and unfiltered update and 25 life lessons to follow.
7 Jan 2024
I cut off contact with my Mum, and it made my life so much better.
Deciding to cut contact from my Mum wasn’t an easy decision and definitely not one I’d taken lightly.
For me, as for most people, it took an exchange so toxic, so far outside the boundaries of what’s acceptable, that something snapped inside me. I was done with her.
This isn’t a decision I woke up and decided to do one day.
It’s taken 15 years and is long overdue.
I have found that trying to ‘make’ anyone think, believe, understand, or do anything is absolutely pointless.
You aren’t obligated to worry about the opinion of anyone, because it’s none of their business. You don’t have to get anyone else’s approval to set the boundaries you need to be healthy.
I hope this episode helps you to understand what is right for you.

10 Ways to Be The Best Version of Yourself
I became obsessed.
In the good way, compared to what people might tell you.
Obsessed with the fact you can change in so many ways as a person.
In the past:
- I was insecure from a young age.
- Lacked confidence in every way.
- Picked every part of myself apart.
Then one day I snapped out of it.
I realised I was the only person who could make the changes. And using these tools that I’ve spoken about on today’s episode, I hope you can make these changes in your life too.

Bex's Thoughts - Ep2
Life is too short to do anything that's not challenging.
Life is too short to blend in.
Life is also too short to do anything that doesn't make you feel happy or fulfilled.
Take action from today's episode and don't worry about the little things.

Bex's Thoughts - Ep1
Life happens outside the comfort zone.
Failure means you're doing things, so the more you take risks and make hard decisions, the closer you are to success.
I learned a lot that vulnerability is true strength, in baring my soul, I found my tribe. In losing my way, I discovered my true path.
In the tapestry of my failures, I wove my resilience.
If you’re continuing to grow your entire life (as we are all meant to), you will probably be very different year to year, and even decade to decade.
So choose yourself each time, and do things that scare you.

Client Hotseat: Ashleigh
On this Episode we welcome one of my long-term clients, Ashleigh, who shares her raw and vulnerable experience of her fitness journey as well as struggling with Postpartum Depression after becoming a Mum to her son.
The trick is to allow yourself to feel the emotions without giving them deeper meaning.
Which Ash has explained so well throughout this Episode.
Her honesty left me speechless after we spoke and I can't wait for you all to hear her beautiful story.

Client Hotseat: Jordyn - Bouncing Back
I'm joined by my client, Jordyn, on this Episode of our Client Hotseats.
Jordyn is the most adherent and on-the-ball client that I have had the utmost pleasure of working with for a few months now as she lost 10kg in body weight. But the difference in her mental progress is absolutely amazing too.
It was such a lovely relaxed chat with Jordyn about how she started with us at The Empowerment PT, and I am so proud of her progress.
This Episode marks the 1st Anniversary of the Empowerment PT Podcast which I am delighted about!
Thank you to all of our listeners and incredible guests we've had so far and will continue to bring on. Keep being powerful.

Dare To Be Different! Be Bold Or Italic, But Never Regular! A Chatty Insight Of How We View Ourselves As Freelancers
On today's episode, we are joined by my wonderful friend, neighbour, and fellow freelancer - Chloe, who is known as The Chatty Freelancer. Chloe has been such a pleasure to work with and also to have in my life outside of business, and I am always so fascinated by her well-balanced approach to life. It was a no-brainer to invite her onto the Podcast and to have as many giggles and freeflow chat as we do normally. We dived deep into the world of design, dumping habits that aren't for you, and no longer tying our self-worth to weight, clothes sizes, or shaming our bodies. I am so excited for you to hear this one! And be sure to follow Chloe on Instagram @TheChattyFreelancerand Spotify - The Chatty Freelancer Podcast.

I loved John on both of our episodes for his energetic and engaging speaking style, as well as the ability to distill complex business & lifestyle concepts into practical tips that anyone can apply to their own journey. We hope you enjoy this one!

Dating A CEO Whilst Also Being A Full Time Buisness Owner
Our first male guest making a fantastic appearance on the Empowerment PT Podcast - John Hamilton, CEO of Young and Lazy. Inspiring this generation to be BOLD, BRAVE and THEMSELVES
whilst aiming for a high performance mindset.
John's ability to run this network has truly blown me away, with his incredible presence and willingness to help others.
And this is one of the greatest gifts we can give people: our energy and presence - the feeling that they've been heard, understood and appreciated.
I cannot wait for you to feel this way after listening to his story, and understanding how we work together as a couple running our businesses.

Empowered Women: Part 1 - The Impact Coaches Have (with Holli & Katie)
On this Episode of the Empowerment PT Podcast; we are joined in the studio today by Katie Byers, Body Image Online Coach, and Holli Boyd of Reform Gym Glasgow.
As a Trio - we believe that we specialise individually in different areas of fitness for our clients. However, we all want nothing more than to help those who want to manage unhelpful behaviours and feel phenomenal in themselves.
Our number one goal is to help you flourish - in your body, around food, the way you feel and in your whole life, which is what we discussed on this Episode.
I was absolutely delighted for the girls to chat with me today, and will definitely have them back. From talking about body image, past experience, our client community, and even the heebie jeebies about Ghosts and Spirits alike, we cover it all in these 90 minutes.

The Start of My Journey as The Empowerment PT
There are several Trigger Warnings I want to address on this Podcast, if these harm you in any sort of way regarding your mental health, please tune out and come back to the next Episode which will be full of more laughs and fun.
I will not be offended and your well-being will always come first.
This is a very personal one for me, something I finally have the courage to speak about after so many years of hiding my past, but as you can tell on the Episode, I am still extremely nervous whilst recording.
This was my 2nd attempt.
Please be kind. Here is my story (some).

Obstacles with obsessive body image, Lockdown mayhem, and the fear of babies
Today we are chatting away with 2 of my clients, Kirstie and Chloe, who have been part of the team for some time now. Kirstie joined me right at the start of Lockdown 2020 and Chloe joined a year later in the midst of all the UK uncertainty. A poor body image can often make people feel really anxious, self-conscious, and isolated. Some of the women I coach become so fixated on trying to change their body shape, they engage in unhealthy practices with food and exercise. Intense feelings of disappointment, shame and guilt in their relationship with food can often follow. Chloe and Kirstie were definitely no different, but are now moving forwards to share their experiences and solutions with you.
And yeah...we definitely aren't ready to be Mothers. Aunties? Yes.

Decompressing Cauda Equina and Daft Fitness Theories
My name is Bex the Empowerment PT.
I'm joined on this first ever episode of the 'Empowerment Podcast' by my amazing client, and now friend, Laura Quinn.
Laura encountered the difficulties of Cauda Equina Syndrome in early 2020, a painful and degenerative spinal condition that resulted in 3 major back surgeries to allow her to get back on her feet.
Well, we hoped it wouldn't have been (shockingly) only 1 hour after her final surgery that she was told to get up and go, as you will soon learn about. Laura has grown not only from this experience two and half years on, but also past mental health struggles and troubles, with some incredible life stories about how she moved forward through the worst times in her life.
It was an absolute pleasure to record this with Laura, and don't worry, we have some laughs along the way and funny stories to share with you all as we reflect through our own fitness journeys.
