   Welcome back!!

Well, it has been some time since I uploaded an episode and all I can say is, welcome back Koyah. In this episode, it's a quick recording of me rededicating myself to God, you guys and myself. Its a very rough recording with background noises but I wanted it to be honest and raw and not prewritten but to come straight from my heart. Don't worry, future episodes will cleaner and professional.

   The Courageous No!!

In this episode we discuss why it is healthy and necessary to know when to say no and associate it with setting boundaries. We will also talk about healthy vs. unhealthy boundaries and the purpose of boundaries. What happens if you set boundaries? Boundaries are a way to take care of ourselves. When we set boundaries, we're less angry and resentful because our needs are being met. Boundaries make our expectations clear, so others know what to expect from us and how we want to be treated. Boundaries are the foundation for happy, healthy relationships. There are five categories I will mention in this session but will focus more on 4 of them. 1.  Emotional boundaries 2.  Intellectual boundaries 3.  Physical boundaries 4.  Financial boundaries 5.  Sexual boundaries – enthusiastic consent *1 Emotional boundaries have to do with being clear on what is and isn't yours to feel or fix *2 Intellectual boundaries can also help you feel more secure in holding your own opinions. Instead of trying to be liked by everyone by agreeing with them, you can remain true to yourself. *3 Even if others can’t understand your boundaries, you have a right to do what makes you comfortable. *4 you may need to set a boundary about what you’re willing to spend. Unhealthy boundaries involve a disregard for your own and others' values, wants, needs, and limits. They can also lead to potentially abusive dating/romantic relationships and increase the chances of other types of abusive relationships as well. If you have a friend that gets overly angry when you are too busy to spend time with them, they may be trying to control you. That's a red flag and suggests that they aren’t truly a friend. Regardless of the situation, these unhealthy relationship boundaries demand too much. Someone with unhealthy boundaries doesn't question how the other person feels. Their goal is to control. What is the courage of saying no? Saying no is not a weakness. A courageous no means that a person has the ability to stand for something and has the courage to stand alone. Sometimes it may take some time to learn to say no. It may take some time to understand that it is ok to say no. But the more you do it when necessary, the easier it will be. Remember, having a boundary and standing firm in it is more about you than the other person. Since we can’t control others, if someone does not respect our boundaries, they have that right. But we also have the right to not accept their behavior. Boundaries are not about changing others, is about respecting ourselves. I pray that this has helped someone and that you are able to find your courageous no!! Check out Dehlani's Creations - a holistic soap and oil black owned company. What happens at Midnight!!!

In this episode we will discuss Paul and Silas and how they handled their midnight. I hope that it will inspire you to know midnight only last so long. Daybreak is on the way. And, when you make it out your midnight, encourage someone else. Acts 16: 22-40 MSG 22b-24 The judges went along with the mob, had Paul and Silas’s clothes ripped off and ordered a public beating. After beating them black-and-blue, they threw them into jail, telling the jailkeeper to put them under heavy guard so there would be no chance of escape. He did just that—threw them into the maximum security cell in the jail and clamped leg irons on them. 25-26Along about midnight, Paul and Silas were at prayer and singing a robust hymn to God. The other prisoners couldn’t believe their ears. Then, without warning, a huge earthquake! The jailhouse tottered, every door flew open, all the prisoners were loose. 27-28Startled from sleep, the jailer saw all the doors swinging loose on their hinges. Assuming that all the prisoners had escaped, he pulled out his sword and was about to do himself in, figuring he was as good as dead anyway, when Paul stopped him: “Don’t do that! We’re all still here! Nobody’s run away!” 29-31The jailer got a torch and ran inside. Badly shaken, he collapsed in front of Paul and Silas. He led them out of the jail and asked, “Sirs, what do I have to do to be saved, to really live?” They said, “Put your entire trust in the Master Jesus. Then you’ll live as you were meant to live—and everyone in your house included!” 32-34They went on to spell out in detail the story of the Master—the entire family got in on this part. They never did get to bed that night. The jailer made them feel at home, dressed their wounds, and then—he couldn’t wait till morning! —was baptized, he and everyone in his family. There in his home, he had food set out for a festive meal. It was a night to remember: He and his entire family had put their trust in God; everyone in the house was in on the celebration. 35-36At daybreak, the court judges sent officers with the instructions, “Release these men.” The jailer gave Paul the message, “The judges sent word that you’re free to go on your way. Congratulations! Go in peace!” 37But Paul wouldn’t budge. He told the officers, “They beat us up in public and threw us in jail, Roman citizens in good standing! And now they want to get us out of the way on the sly without anyone knowing? Nothing doing! If they want us out of here, let them come themselves and lead us out in broad daylight.” 38-40When the officers reported this, the judges panicked. They had no idea that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens. They hurried over and apologized, personally escorted them from the jail, and then asked them if they wouldn’t please leave the city. Walking out of the jail, Paul and Silas went straight to Lydia’s house, saw their friends again, encouraged them in the faith, and only then went on their way. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lahkoyah-powell/message

You are just a Yet away!!

In this episode I talk about something that inspired me this week and I hope that it will inspire you to believe in and reach your dreams and goals. You are only a Yet away! Keep pushing, keep persevering, keep believing. Its not too late. Philippians 1:3-6 MSG Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present. There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears. Colossians 1:9-12 MSG Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven’t stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works. We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us. Hebrews 10:32-39 MSG 32-39Remember those early days after you first saw the light? Those were the hard times! Kicked around in public, targets of every kind of abuse—some days it was you, other days your friends. If some friends went to prison, you stuck by them. If some enemies broke in and seized your goods, you let them go with a smile, knowing they couldn’t touch your real treasure. Nothing they did bothered you, nothing set you back. So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion. It won’t be long now, he’s on the way; he’ll show up most any minute. But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust; if he cuts and runs, I won’t be very happy. But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way. I will be uploading weekly and hope you continue to come back for a refill!
