Today I would like to remind you that your patients often have a serious problem understanding, even in their own language. Yes, speaking Spanish with them or having access to an interpreter is excellent and very necessary.
Do you know what "mollera caída" or "empacho" are?

What are Folk Illnesses or Cultural Syndromes?

These are illnesses that don't appear in traditional medical books but are believed in by people in certain communities.

They have their own causes, preventions, and cures, which can be very different from what a conventional doctor might think.

But what's interesting is that these illnesses aren't just physical. They often come with a mix of religious beliefs and symbolism. So when someone suffers from a folk illness, it's not just a physical ailment; there's a whole story behind it.

⭐️ If you want to know more about this subject or improve your medical Spanish, join for free my group Medicine in Spanish with Ana GT and receive free resources weekly ⭐️
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/encuentrosmedicos/message
