Kiyoshi Kurosawa Double (Pulse & Tokyo Sonata, #japanuary 2025/2026) - "You wanna see a ghost?" - Nachdem durch das letzte Gastspiel endgültig Hoffnung für den Abschluss des 2025er (lol) #japanuary aufkam, dachten wir uns (angelehnt an einen der größten Philosophen der Moderne) in Bezug auf die dritte Sendung zum Thema nur noch: "Jetzt will ich sie haben und jetzt ist aber auch mal hier Kurosawa fällich!". Gesagt, getan, mit etwas viraler Verzögerung - no worries, die Geister-Epidemie hat uns noch nicht erwischt - widmen wir uns PULSE und TOKYO SONATA von Kiyoshi Kurosawa, den wir in einem vorherigen, etwas holprigen #japanuary bereits schätzen gelernt hatten. Viel Stoff, um über Einsamkeit, Entmenschlichung, die daraus resultierende Dysfunktionalität menschlicher Kommunikation, etc. etc. zu sprechen. Have fun!

Hirokazu Kore-eda Double (Maborosi & After Life, #japanuary 2025/2026) - "Normaler Bambus, halt..." - Dieses mal war es nur ein Jahr, bis es mit dem #japanuary weiter ging... Vielleicht bedeutet das ja, dass wir in 2027 einfach in einem Rutsch die Sendungen raushauen? Kann nur die Glaskugel wissen. Was ebenfalls nur die Glaskugel weiß, ist die Antwort auf die Größte aller Fragen - erwartet uns etwas nach diesem Leben? Mit Christiane von der Wendeltreppe ins Nichts und Daniel vom Spätfilm schauen wir mal, welche Antworten Hirokazu Kore-Eda darauf hat? Sein Spielfilm-Debut MABOROSI von 1995 meditiert zwar eher darum, wie die die mit einem schweren Verlust im Diesseits verbleiben (müssen) damit (nicht) umgehen (können), in AFTER LIFE von 1998 wird es jedoch metaphysisch - auf eine ebenso schrullige, wie Film-affine weise.
