EPRIEtalks 03: LGBTQ+ Community Challenges
In this episode of the EPRIEtalks podcast, we delve into the pressing challenges faced by LGBTQ+ community members, featuring two insightful speakers. Ray Kyooyung Ra, currently a PhD student researcher at the University of Southern California, is deeply engaged in exploring the realm of traveling queer images, particularly within the context of the United States and South Korea. Meanwhile, An Huy Tran, a doctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen, specializes in sociology and migration studies, focusing on male Vietnamese migrants residing in Japan and examining how they navigate the complex dimensions of sexuality and gender during their migratory experiences. Both guests and hosts of this podcasts are alumni of the EPRIE program, an annual summer school that brings together young experts from Europe and East Asia for exchange and joint learnings. The Exchange Program for Regional Integration and Exchange in Europe and East Asia (EPRIE) is hosted by Korea Verband, and was funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. The Korea Verband is an open, politically independent and German-speaking information and cooperation platform for all who are interested in the history and culture of Korea as well as the latest developments on the Korean Peninsula and would like to get involved in this area. EPRIEtalks 02: Migration issues

It also delves into the complex definition of the term “migrant” and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on migration. The role of media narratives in shaping public perception and policy decisions related to migration is another key topic of discussion.
