Ep 30 - Loving Your Wife When You Feel Disconnected: Part 2 How Do I Love Her When I Dont Feel Close

What do we do when we know we’re supposed to love our wife, but we don’t feel close to her?

In Part 2 of our series, Loving Your Wife When You Feel Disconnected, we look at what covenant love requires when feelings are weak. Biblical love is not fake affection or pretending everything is fine. It is faithful obedience shaped by the cross and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Using Ephesians 5:25 as our foundation, we talk about the difference between emotional love and obedient love, why scorekeeping damages a marriage, how biblical leadership means sacrifice instead of control, and what it looks like to move toward our wife with steadiness, service, honor, curiosity, and repentance.

We also get practical. Each of us is challenged to choose one clear act of covenant love this week and do it quietly, without demanding praise or keeping score.

A husband’s first command is not control. It is love. And the shape of that love is the cross.

In this episode:

• How to love your wife when you feel emotionally disconnected
• Why feelings make a poor foundation for marriage
• The difference between fake love and obedient love
• What Ephesians 5:25 teaches Christian husbands
• Why scorekeeping turns marriage into a transaction
• How repentance, service, and steady leadership rebuild trust
• Gospel hope for husbands who know they have failed

New Devotional Available

My new book, Built on Christ: A 30-Day Devotional, is now available.

It was written to help Christian men build their lives on God’s Word, grow in biblical leadership, and become more faithful husbands, fathers, workers, church members, and followers of Christ.

Visit www.equippedtoleadpodcast.com to learn more and get your copy through Amazon.

Subscribe to the Equipped to Lead Podcast wherever you listen, and visit the website for more biblical resources for Christian men.

Be strong. Monday Devotion: Stop Hiding Weakness

Biblical strength isn’t pretending we’re never weak. It’s learning to bring our weakness honestly before Christ.

In this Equipped in 5 Monday devotion, Corey walks through 2 Corinthians 12:9 and reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weakness. A lot of men stay busy, stay quiet, isolate, or keep saying “I’m fine” while carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone. But real strength starts when we stop hiding and depend on the Lord.

This week’s challenge is simple: name one burden you’ve been trying to carry alone, pray over it, and ask one trusted Christian brother to pray with you.

Lead with strength. Serve with humility. Love like Christ.
Be strong. Lead well.

Visit www.equippedtoleadpodcast.com for the free 7-Day Biblical Manhood Devotion.

Ep 29 - Loving Your Wife When You Feel Disconnected Part 1: Naming the Drift

Why do I feel disconnected from my wife?

A lot of marriages do not fall apart in one dramatic moment. The distance usually builds slowly through busyness, unresolved anger, distraction, bitterness, exhaustion, silence, and neglect.

In this episode of the Equipped to Lead Podcast, we begin a three-part series called Loving Your Wife When You Feel Disconnected. Part one is about naming the drift.

Using Ephesians 5:25-33 as the foundation, we look at what happens when a husband stops moving toward his wife and starts hiding behind work, screens, silence, resentment, or excuses. We also talk about emotional disconnection, hidden sin, spiritual responsibility, and why biblical leadership begins with honest examination before God.

This episode is not about blaming our wives or trying to fix everything in one conversation. It is about asking the Lord to search us, naming where the drift is showing up, and taking one humble step toward our wife.

If your marriage feels cold, distant, or more like a working arrangement than a covenant friendship, this episode will help you slow down, look honestly at your own heart, and begin moving toward your wife with humility, courage, and Christlike love.

Connect with Equipped To Lead podcast: equippedtoleadpodcast.com

Chapters

00:00 Why Do I Feel Disconnected From My Wife?

00:52 Loving Your Wife When You Feel Disconnected

04:56 Why Marriage Disconnection Usually Starts Small

06:41 How Men Respond to Emotional Distance in Marriage

08:49 What Scripture Reveals About a Husband’s Heart

11:27 How Quiet Bitterness Damages a Marriage

12:58 When Exhaustion Becomes Emotional Neglect

14:28 How Distraction and Hidden Sin Hurt Marriage

16:58 Biblical Marriage Is Covenant Friendship

18:27 A Christian Husband’s Marriage Heart Check

21:12 Gospel Hope for a Disconnected Marriage

23:18 How to Start Reconnecting With Your Wife
