Ergo Sum is an amateur's review of the history of philosophy.
It's an ethics-first political philosophy discussion among friends. A lighthearted exploration of the human condition. My little contribution to the Great Conversation.
Big ideas. Bigger mouths.
Ergo Sum is a podcast about… philosophy. Mostly.
No, ummm…
Ok. Bear with me.
euristic, adjective. - enabling a person to discover or learn something for themselves.
The word ‘heuristic’ has different definitions in different fields and industries. Before we explore the ways I mean it; do any of you guys use it professionally?
Fittingly, the word, like the story we're outlining, starts with the ancient greek/pre-greek;
/heu̯.rís.kɔː/ → /eˈβris.ko/ → /eˈvris.ko/
I happen upon by chance, find
I find out, discover
I acquire, fetch, obtain
So a heuristic tool or device is a construct to better our odds of happening upon, of discovering, of acquiring knowledge or understanding.
What I mean, for our purposes, is that the podcast itself has become a tool to help me learn and do philosophy.

Episode 00: Preface - Part I
Ergo Sum is a podcast about… philosophy. Mostly.
No, ummm…
Ok. Bear with me.
I struggled a lot to write this preface.
It’s been hard to pick any one angle on something as abstract and personal as the study of philosophy. Creating a narrative around an ongoing experience is a complicated logistical challenge. Sort of an uncertainty/indeterminacy principle situation; I know where I’m at, but not where I’m going.
I’m still discovering what the podcast is. Let me try to give you a snapshot anyway.

Episode -1: Plato and Republic - A Trial Run
This was our first attempt at an episode. It spurred me to take my plan back to the drawing board and come up with a much better plan of attack. I've left it up for the sake of transparency and context. Thanks for listening.
We talk about 'strangemaking', Plato, The Republic, and Charmander.
