Juneteenth 노예해방 기념일
지난 19일은 미국은 Juneteenth 노예해방 기념일이었습니다. Juneteenth는 6월을 뜻하는 영어 Juen과 19일 Nineteenth를 합쳐서 준틴스라고 부르는데요. 준틴스는 1865년 6월19일 미국의 마지막 흑인 노예가 해방된 날을 기리는 날입니다. 미국의 수도 워싱턴DC에서는 많은 이벤트 행사들이 있었는데요. #노예해방기념일 #링컨 #Juneteenth

메모리얼데이, 미국은 여름 시작
미국은 5월 마지막 주 월요일을 ‘메모리얼데이’로 지키고 있습니다. 메모리얼데이는 한국으 현충일과 비슷한 공휴일로 남북전쟁에서 전사한 병사들을 추모하는데서 시작되었고 이후 1차 세계대전 이후 전쟁으로 인해 사망한 병사들을 기리는 날입니다.
