About EUROSCOPE
Europe, explained through its own data. Each episode takes one story, one dataset and one honest question — then goes to the primary source, not the headlines. Regulation, money, energy, migration, technology: whatever is moving, made sense of beyond Brussels. Every figure carries its source and date. Every episode asks: “Where This Goes Wrong?” Predictions are made and scored on camera. Corrections appear next episode. Written and edited by Anil Jangra.

Schengen’s Border Test: The Data Behind Europe’s Return Push
A source-led investigation into Schengen’s temporary internal border checks and the EU’s evolving return framework. We compare Eurostat’s 2025 orders-to-leave and returns totals without treating them as a matched cohort; examine Germany’s notified border checks through 15 March 2027; explain Eurodac’s age-six biometric rules in specified migration procedures; and check the status of Return Regulation file 2025/0059/COD. EUR-Lex lists the file as ongoing, so its proposed measures are described as proposals—not enacted law. The episode also separates broad Pact implementation support from any separately verified hub-specific budget. The EU AI Adoption Gap: Why Small Firms Trail Large Firms
EU business AI use is growing, but small enterprises remain far behind large ones. Eurostat reports AI use among EU enterprises rose from 13.48% in 2024 to 19.95% in 2025. For 2025, the reported rates were 17.00% for small enterprises and 55.03% for large enterprises—a gap of about 38 percentage points.

How Can Your Electricity Bill Rise When Energy Costs Fall? | EU, UK & Switzerland
Why can a household bill stay high—or rise—even when energy-supply costs fall? Anil follows Eurostat, Ofgem, and ElCom figures, explains why the EU, UK, and Swiss measures cannot be ranked directly, and ends with five lines to check on your own bill. Figures are dated; the presenter is an AI avatar animation and the voiceover uses the supplied voice profile. Sources and chapter timestamps are included in the episode description above.

The 2-in-3 Claim: Europe’s New Border Rules, Explained
Why did the Council cite a two-in-three figure for people ordered to leave—and what can Eurostat’s annual totals actually tell us? Anil examines the Council’s claim, reads the procedural limits in Regulation (EU) 2024/1348, looks at the Entry/Exit System’s stated scope, and tests whether tighter compliance necessarily creates a technology boom. Important data caveat: Eurostat’s 2024 orders and effective returns are separate annual totals, not matched records of the same people. They do not establish an individual return rate. The episode separates sourced facts from analysis and ends with practical checks for travelers, employers, and people facing an individual case. General information, not individual legal advice. Power can get cheaper while household bills remain high
In this episode, Anil traces the hidden cost stack behind EU and UK household budgets: wholesale electricity, taxes, network charges, carbon pricing, transport exposure, geopolitical disruption, and the unequal ability to switch to heat pumps or electric vehicles. The episode explains Fossilflation, ETS2, the UK price-cap receipt, the clean-power paradox, energy poverty, electrification savings, and the Social Climate Fund. Sourced evidence is separated from analysis, forecasts are labeled as forecasts, and modeled household scenarios are not presented as universal European bills. The 41 Lines: Switzerland’s Winter Power Gamble
Switzerland and the European Union have signed Bilateral Agreements III, including an electricity-market agreement that could reshape how winter power moves across borders. This episode follows the 41-line grid connection, Switzerland’s winter import exposure, Europe’s renewable timing problem, reserve-power insurance, price contagion, and the sovereignty trade-off. The practical question is simple: can deeper market integration reduce the risk of an isolated winter shortage without pushing regional price shocks into household bills? This episode separates sourced facts from analysis and labels the 14.3% figure as a reported market-analysis reading—not a universal household forecast. Sources and legal status can change. Check the linked official materials and current parliamentary updates before relying on any figure or projection. Germany is back... but at what cost? In this episode of EUROSCOPE, host Anil Jangra dives deep into the primary data to uncover the great contradiction of Europe’s largest economy. While the German government unleashes a massive €40 billion fiscal stimulus to save its industrial core, household energy prices have spiked by 10.5%, effectively neutralizing wage gains for millions. We move past the headlines to ask one honest question: Can a country borrow its way out of a structural energy crisis? In this episode: The Stimulus Engine: Breaking down the €40B injection into green energy and defense. The Inflation Peak: Why 2.9% inflation is hitting families harder than the headline suggests. France's Deficit Fine Has Never Been Collected — Here's Why
There's a law in Europe that can fine a country for spending too much money. It has existed forover a decade. It has never once actually collected a single euro.France is inside that mechanism right now, under a Council recommendation to fix its deficit by2029 — and this week its bond yields hit their highest level since November 2008. So who isactually forcing France to change course: Brussels' own rulebook, or the market itself?I'm Anil Jangra. Whose inflation is 2.9%?
Europe's inflation rate is 2.9%. In Romania it's 8.2%. In Sweden it's 0.3%. All three numbers came from the same Eurostat table, published on the same morning. So whose inflation is 2.9%? This episode opens up how the number is actually built — the weights, the contributions, and the one ratio nobody reported: energy is under a tenth of the basket but delivered about a third of the headline rate. Strip energy out entirely and the euro area sits at 2.2%. Meanwhile services, at nearly half the basket, quietly account for more than half of the rate. And underneath the average, the range runs from 0.3% to 8.2% inside a single market. I'm Anil Jangra. On EUROSCOPE we take one European story, one dataset, and one honest question — and work out what is actually happening, and why, using verified data and primary sources. METHOD Every figure comes from the primary release or its underlying dataset, not from coverage of it. The four ratios in this episode — energy at roughly 32% of the rate, services at roughly 53%, the 7.9 percentage point spread, and the weight-versus-contribution comparison — are my own arithmetic on published Eurostat numbers, and I say so where they appear. Europe's 24-Hour Energy Rule Could Change Your Bills AI
I'm Anil Jangra, and in this video we explain how the 2026 European energy shock is affecting household bills, consumer rights, energy-market volatility, and disposable income across Europe and the UK.We examine the geopolitical energy shock, the UK Ofgem price-cap figures, wholesale-price volatility, renewable generation, negative electricity pricing, storage constraints, and the emerging 24-hour supplier-switching framework. The practical takeaway is simple: understand your tariff, check the standing charge, compare the full combined rate, and verify the rules that apply in your country before switching. A flexible tariff can create opportunities, but can also expose households to volatility. Fixed and variable contracts both carry different risks. This video is for general information and commentary only. It is not legal, financial, investment, or energy-contract advice. Does the EU AI Act cover THIS video? The answer isn't what you'd think #AIAct #europeanunion #viral
On 2 August 2026 the EU began applying Article 50 of the AI Act — the rules that decide when a machine has to admit it made something. Chatbots must disclose. Deepfakes must be labelled. AI-generated content must carry machine-readable marks. So does that law cover a video like this one? I read the articles instead of the coverage. The answer is no — and then, partly, yes — and the reason reveals what this regulation is actually measuring: not how much AI you used, but who agreed to be responsible for the result.Chapters00:00 A newsroom can. You can't.00:37 Euroscope00:46 This video — AI wrote the words01:04 What Article 50 actually does01:45 Providers vs deployers — who each paragraph binds02:49 How we got here: 2021 to 202604:02 The three-part deepfake test04:40 The sentence that does apply — and its door05:19 What the exemption rewards06:00 The voluntary code nobody mentioned06:46 Who enforces it, and what it costs07:55 Who gains, who pays09:03 Why success is the real risk09:21 The predictionSources — every figure on screen, with its date• Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (EU AI Act), Article 50 — transparency obligations for providers and deployers. Applies from 2 August 2026.• Article 3(60) — definition of "deep fake" (three cumulative conditions).• Article 50(4), second subparagraph — AI-generated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest, and the human-review / editorial-responsibility exemption.• Article 99 — penalties: up to €15,000,000 or 3% of total worldwide annual turnover, whichever is higher. Chapter XII applies from 2 August 2025.• Article 113 — entry into force and application dates.• European Commission, "Quick Facts: Transparency rules for AI systems", last updated 29 July 2026 — enforcement bodies, penalty ceilings, the three optional EU labelling icons, and the marking grace period to December 2026 for generative AI systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026 (Article 50(2) as amended by the AI Omnibus).• Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-generated Content, published June 2026 — voluntary.Prediction on the record: by 2 December 2026, when the marking grace period ends, the loudest fight will be about definitions, not fines. I'll score that publicly on the day, either way.Corrections appear on screen in the following episode.
