Late ADHD Diagnosis, Identity & Entrepreneurship

What happens after a late ADHD diagnosis, when the name finally makes sense, but the life around you still feels like it was built for someone else?In this episode of Even The Dog Has ADHD, I’m joined by my business coach and friend, Shari Teigman, for a conversation about ADHD identity, diagnosis, neurodivergence, entrepreneurship, faith, burnout, menopause, community and the labels we use to understand ourselves. We talk about the relief of finally having language for your struggles, the danger of turning diagnosis into another box, and what happens when the version of you that once coped, performed and adapted can no longer carry the whole structure.Shari brings her maverick approach to life and business, including the ideas behind her book The Maverick Way, and we explore what it means to hear your own beat more clearly than the noise around you. This conversation is for adults exploring ADHD, autism, AuDHD, late diagnosis, self-understanding, entrepreneurship, faith, burnout, identity, menopause and the complicated work of becoming more fully yourself, without turning yourself into another project. We also explore:Late ADHD diagnosis and the validation that can come with itWhy labels can help, but can also become limitingADHD, autism, AuDHD and identity after diagnosisNeurodivergent entrepreneurship and the pressure to keep evolvingBurnout, masking, performance and self-protectionFaith, community and belongingMenopause, midlife and the changing sense of selfShari’s maverick approach to business, life and creative leadershipAt the heart of this episode is a simple idea: diagnosis can give us language, but it does not have to become a cage. We are allowed to understand our patterns, honour our wiring, and build lives and businesses that fit who we are now.

Connect with show guest: Shari Teigman

Shari’s website

Shari’s Instagram

Shari's LinkedIn

The Maverick Way Book - available worldwide - this is the UK Amazon

Connect with show host: Diana Hayes

Diana V Hayes website

Diana V Hayes Instagram

Diana Hayes LinkedIn

Website for the podcast

Subscribe for more conversations about ADHD, autism, AuDHD, neurodivergent family life, late diagnosis, identity, work, relationships and what it means to live with a brain that does not always fit the systems around it.#ADHD #Neurodivergent #LateDiagnosis

ADHD, Weight Loss and Identity Why Diets Don’t Work

What if the thing you’ve been trying to fix with another diet or supplement was never really about food?In this episode of Even The Dog Has ADHD, Diana talks with Naomi Holbrook, the Unconventional Weight Loss Coach, about ADHD, weight loss, identity, emotional eating, menopause, and why diets so often miss the real pattern.Naomi shares her own story of growing up feeling different, building a successful corporate career while privately struggling, losing five stone, and realising that changing her body did not automatically change the shame, anxiety, or identity underneath.Together, Diana and Naomi explore food noise, alcohol, late-recognised neurodivergence, perimenopause, burnout, and the moment many women reach when “I’ll do it when I have headspace” actually means “I’m scared of what I might find.” This is a conversation about hidden patterns, not willpower. You’ll leave with a gentler reframe: maybe you are not broken, maybe you have been carrying more than anyone could see.Side QuestAnd if you want to know more about the Beguines that I mentioned in this episode, read on.Women in medieval Europe who began forming independent religious communities from around the late 1100s onwards, particularly across what is now Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany. They weren’t nuns and they didn’t take permanent vows. Many supported themselves through teaching, nursing, textile work, and writing, and they created an alternative way of living for women outside marriage or convent life. What struck me most is that the movement lasted for CENTURIES.

The last known Beguine, Marcella Pattyn in Belgium, only died in 2013 at the age of 92. So this wasn’t some tiny forgotten medieval anomaly; it was a living tradition that survived for over 800 years. If you want to explore more, some good starting points are:UNESCO Beguinages of FlandersEncyclopaedia Britannica — BeguinesThe Beguines is one of the earliest large-scale networks of economically active and intellectually influential women in European history. Online Safety Isn’t About Settings — It’s About Behaviour (ADHD, Patterns & Cyber Security)

What if online safety has less to do with passwords and privacy settings… and more to do with human behaviour?

In this episode of Even The Dog Has ADHD, Diana Hayes is joined by cybersecurity expert Gary Hibberd, co-founder of Consultants Like Us, for a conversation about neurodivergence, digital behaviour, gaming culture, impulsivity, AI, and the very human patterns that cyber criminals know how to exploit.

Together they explore:

• Why neurodivergent traits can be both a strength and a vulnerability online
• The overlap between ADHD, pattern recognition, impulsivity, and cyber security
• Gaming platforms, online grooming, and hidden digital risks for young people
• Why fear, urgency, and distraction are often more dangerous than technology itself
• The emotional side of online safety for families, teenagers, and elderly relatives
• AI, behavioural patterns, and what happens when technology starts accelerating human thinking
• Why conversations matter more than control when it comes to keeping people safe online

Gary brings more than 30 years of experience in information security and data protection, but what makes this conversation different is the human lens. This is not a fear-based discussion about technology. It is a thoughtful conversation about awareness, behaviour, relationships, and understanding ourselves better online.

Connect with Diana Hayes

Connect with Gary Hibberd

Buy Gary's Book

Follow Even The Dog Has ADHD for more conversations exploring ADHD, autism, neurodivergence, relationships, identity, work, family life, and the realities of building a life that works for your wiring.

#ADHD #CyberSecurity #OnlineSafety #Neurodivergent #ADHDAwareness #Autism #DigitalBehaviour #AI #Parenting #Gaming #MentalHealth #InformationSecurity #EvenTheDogHasADHD
