Monday Motivation: Embracing the New School Year

CHAMPIONING EDUCATORS: EMBRACING THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR A heartfelt message from Richmond Brown to all educators. Hey there, As we step into a new school year, Richmond Brown reminds us of the vital role we play as educators and leaders in expanded learning. It’s a time filled with new energy, possibilities, and yes, challenges. Richmond's message is clear: you are not alone in this journey. A CALL TO ACTION FOR EDUCATORS Richmond champions every facet of our educational community—from directors striving for successful site openings to frontline professionals actively engaging with students every day. He emphasizes that while we often encourage others, we sometimes forget to uplift ourselves as leaders. "Sometimes leaders spend so much time encouraging everyone else. There's nobody stopping to encourage the leader." — Richmond Brown In this transitional period, it’s important to acknowledge that the beginning of the school year can feel overwhelming. You might face staffing shortages, unexpected challenges, or a surge in student numbers. Richmond urges us to remember: A difficult beginning does not equate to a difficult ending. Give your systems time to settle and your team time to develop. Don’t confuse challenges with failure. COLLABORATING FOR SUCCESS Richmond passionately advocates for collaboration within our field. He challenges us to think about how we can leverage our networks and partnerships to create richer experiences for our students. "Expanded learning was not meant to be done alone; it takes community." — Richmond Brown Instead of operating in silos, we need to build connections that allow us to share resources, expertise, and support. Richmond invites us to reach out, whether we’re seeking staffing solutions, training, or enrichment partnerships. Together, we can enhance the quality of our programs and the experiences we provide to our students. REFLECTING ON OUR IMPACT As you navigate through the challenges of the school year, take a moment to reflect on the impact you have on your students and community. Richmond reminds us that: "The young people that you are serving deserve exceptional experiences after school…and they deserve you." — Richmond Brown Let’s take this motivation into our week, encouraging one another and fostering a spirit of collaboration. Remember, you don’t have to shoulder the weight of leadership alone. Reach out, share challenges, and seek support. As we embark on this new school year, let’s stay connected and continue to uplift each other, ensuring every student has access to the resources and support they need.
