Gery Karanzas is is a Professor in the School of Psychology, couples therapist, and Director of the Science of Adult Relationships (SoAR) Laboratory at Deakin University. He is one of Australia’s leading relationships experts and has been delivering workshops, seminars and lectures in relationship science to the general public, graduate and undergraduate students, and professionals for over a decade. Gery is the past national convenor of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Psychology of Relationships Interest Group. He has edited and authored over 150 publications including the Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of Couples and Family Relationships (co-edited with Pat Noller) and Adult Attachment: A Concise Introduction to Theory and Research (co-authored with Omri Gillath and R. Imagery Re-scripting with couples with Poul Perris
<p>One of the most powerful and effective tools for gealing and change in Schema Therapy is Imagery Re-scripting. But how does this work with couples? Poul Perris talks us throughhow to create a safe space for Re-scripting, how Imagery works and then demonstrates using Imagery Re-scripting to build connection, understanding and empathy with a couple.</p><p>Poul Perris, MD is the director of the Swedish Institute for CBT & Schema Therapy located in Stockholm, Sweden. The institute is a private training centre with University status that offers psychotherapy training programs at various professional levels, combined with a clinical outpatient setting. </p><p>Poul served as the President of the Swedish CBT association from 2010-2016 and has contributed to making SchemaTherapy an integral part of national mental health services in Sweden. Poul has been teaching and supervising cognitivebehavioral therapists and schema therapists internationally for over a decade. He is a certified schema therapy trainer for both individual and couples and hisI nstitute has been offering ISST approved training for certification since 2005. Poul specializes in the treatment of personality disorders, and in couples therapy for complex relational problems. Poul has co-authored a handbook on Schema Therapy in Swedish, as well as several book chapters on working with couples and core emotional needs. Poul is committed to bring ingSchema Therapy to theattention of the general public and, to this end, has been involved in several productions for Swedish National Television that promote the schema therapists understanding of the centrality of core emotional needs, what happens when theyare not met, and the schema mode model. In 2012 he treated 6 authentic couples with ST-C. Using chairs in Schema Couples Therapy with Dr Eckhart Roediger
<p>One of the strangest and most powerful elements in SchemaCouples Therapy is chairwork. Putting parts of self in chairs and standing above those chairs provides an opportunity for empathy, seeing the self differently and allowing for change. But how does it work? Eckhart walks through the neuroscience as well as demonstrating how to work with a couple using chairs.</p><p> </p><p>Dr Eckhart Roediger is a specialist in Neurology, Psychiatry andPsychotherapy and Psychotherapeutic Medicine. Since 2007 he has been working in private practice in Frankfurt and as a lecturer and supervisor for behavior therapy and schema therapy. He also holds teaching positions in Cologne and the Kath. Stiftungsfachhochschule in Munich. Since June 2008 he isthe first fully licensed Schema Therapist in Germany and member of the founding board of ISST, founded and director of the Institute for Schema Therapy-Frankfurt (IST-F).
