I Interviewed a Real Blue Zone Resident in Okinawa (Longevity Secrets Revealed)

One of the world’s rare Blue Zones is in Okinawa - a region known for having some of the highest numbers of centenarians on Earth.A Blue Zone is a place where people live significantly longer, healthier lives than average, with unusually high numbers of people reaching 90 and 100 years old and staying active and independent. It has always been my dream to go to Okinawa and I was so lucky to be able to go. As a longevity coach, this was an absolute treat.I travelled to Ogimi — often called the “Village of Longevity” — to sit down with locals and learn what actually contributes to such long, meaningful lives.A huge thank you to the team at Emi no Mise restaurant, and to Emi and Mihoko for kindly allowing me to interview them and share insight into why Ogimi has produced a record number of centenarians. Here’s what stood out most from our conversation:• Laughter - Joy and humour are part of daily life. Lower stress. Stronger resilience.• Community - No isolation. People stay socially connected and engaged at every age.• Fibre & Protein-Rich Diet - Vegetables, tofu, seaweed, legumes. High fibre for gut health, enough protein to preserve muscle.• Ikigai (生き甲斐) - Your “reason for being.” The reason you wake up each morning. It could be gardening, cooking, helping others - but it keeps you purposeful. In Ogimi, people don’t retire from life. They stay useful. They stay connected. They stay purposeful.Longevity isn’t just about living longer - it’s about living well.Let me know which lesson resonated with you most.#longevity #okinawa #bluezones #ogimivillage #interview

what nobody tells you when you go sober at 22...

At 22, I made the decision to go sober, and it wasn't a decision I took lightly.

This episode isn’t about telling people to stop drinking. It’s simply my honest experience of going sober at a young age, shared for anyone who’s already been thinking about it and wondering what to expect.

I talk about the things people don’t really tell you, the social changes, the mindset shifts, the uncomfortable moments, but also the clarity, growth, and self-understanding that came with it.

If you’re thinking about going sober, questioning your relationship with alcohol, or considering taking a break from drinking, I hope this helps you feel more prepared and less alone.

If you’d like any support on your journey through health coaching, feel free to message me on Instagram @wellnesswithkian https://www.instagram.com/wellnesswithkian/.

#selfgrowth#mentalclarity#innerwork#healingjourney#consciousliving#personaldevelopment
