MRI Remote Scanning: The NHS Approach

โ๐๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ง๐ฌ๐๐๐โ โ ๏ธ
Thatโs what many people said a few years ago.
Some still do.
But while critics debate it on LinkedIn, several private hospitals and public institutions around the world, like NHS England, are already using remote scanning successfully in real clinical environments on a day-to-day basis.
Thatโs because remote operations were never about cutting corners.
They are about solving real problems: staffing shortages, burnout, workflow pressure, access to expertise, and safer support for both patients and radiographers.
In this podcast episode, we sit down with Philip Gregory, practice educator at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, to talk openly about where remote MRI actually stands today in the UK.
We discussed why departments adopting remote operations are seeing:
- Greater operational flexibility
- Better staff support
- Improved resilience across sites
- Safer escalation pathways and operations
- More sustainable MRI services
Whatโs fascinating is that some of the strongest critics of remote scanning have completely changed their position after seeing it work in practice.
The conversation has moved

from:
โWill this ever happen?โ "I don't think this is the way to go in terms of safety"

to:

โHow do we implement it properly?โ "How can I get a free pilot?"
Remote MRI is here to stay.
The departments embracing it early will shape the future of imaging.
If your department wants to explore remote MRI operations through a free pilot, comment below - "๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฅ๐จ๐ญ"
#MRI #Radiology #Radiographer #MedicalImaging #RemoteMRI #NHS Julien Greggio Samuel Oliveira

MRI Simulation: See, Touch, Feel, Play!

๐๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฒ!ย
Dear MRI Community,

In this episode of The ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ, we are joined by Jake Rahman, Managing Director and Owner of SimulationMan, to explore why ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง is the secret sauce for ๐ก๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง. Drawing on his extensive experience in the field, Jake explains how humans actually learn complex tasks and dives into his philosophy of "๐๐๐, ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐๐ก, ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ, ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฒ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ".

Because radiographers and other healthcare professionals cannot exactly "play" around with a high field MR scanner, particularly while a patient is inside, simulation bridges the gap and removes the anxiety of ๐ฆ๐๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ค๐๐ฌ.

We also discuss the SimulationCollective and how departments can ๐ฆ๐๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ without needing a million-dollar setup!ย

๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐?!ย
Our brand-new ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ฒ is now ๐๐๐๐, with courses covering from foundational and cardiac MRI to veterinary and remote MRI scanning.
ย https://everythingmri.learnworlds.com/
๐๐จ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ and ๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ฌ can emailย info.everythingMRI@gmail.comย for an ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ.
If you have thoughts on simulation in healthcare or past experiences where hands-on play helped you familiarise with a complex system, feel free to share them in the comments and be part of the conversation!ย
