Bruins in the Outdoors: USJ Sport Shooting Team & Bass Fishing Team
In this episode of Excellence Ed, we’re taking a closer look at the USJ Sport Shooting Team and the Bass Fishing Team and the opportunities they offer our students.
We’ll hear from Sport Shooting Coach Daniel Stanfield about a program that is producing athletes who are winning at both the state and national levels. Then, we’ll talk with senior Harrison McClain about how he got involved with the Bass Fishing Team and what he enjoys most about being a member.
From the range to the water, this episode highlights two unique ways our Bruins pursue their interests outside the classroom, build connections with the community, and represent USJ.

Student Leadership in Action: Inside USJ’s SGA
What does student leadership look like at USJ? In this episode of Excellence Ed, we’re taking a closer look at the Student Government Association, or SGA, and its role in supporting the mission of the University School of Jackson.
We’ll explore the differences between SGA members and class officers, the responsibilities each group carries, and how they work together to represent their classmates and contribute to school life. The conversation also highlights the community charities SGA supports and how those efforts give students opportunities to serve others.
