Excuse Us

About Excuse Us

*Excuse Us* is a darkly humorous, post-apocalyptic radio play set in the quiet town of Joiceville, where something went wrong at the local diner. The series is told through the perspective of Catherine L. Dee, the only survivor, as she recounts the bizarre and traumatic events leading up to the disaster. Through quirky, fragmented episodes, Catherine unravels her story—introducing listeners to the diner’s eccentric staff and the eerie happenings that took place under the surface of everyday life. Meanwhile, a shadowy corporation known as Blind Corp. looms over the narrative. Behind the scenes, two operatives from Blind Corp work to piece together the mystery of the zombie apocalypse that tore the town apart, questioning Catherine in an attempt to understand the horror that unfolded. The series blends cosmic horror, dark comedy, and human drama, as it explores themes of survival, corporate overreach, and the madness beneath the surface of a seemingly peaceful town. Disclaimer: *Excuse Us* is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. The characters, organizations, and situations depicted in this story are products of the author’s imagination and are not intended to represent any real-world individuals, companies, or occurrences. *Excuse Us* is an independent audio drama about a town falling apart, a mind cracking open, and the quiet, procedural terror of a corporation that won’t stay dead. Every word, sound, and spiral is crafted by a single human. Some voices are synthesized, but the collapse is entirely handmade. Episode 4 - The Cover - Side A

The Cover (Side A) You might have heard eight tapes. You have never heard this reel. In a room with no number at the top of the Mors Delectamenti Hotel, a captive knight sits across the table from a reel-to-reel recorder that talks back. It calls itself Lou Phillips. It used to work in radio. It has notes, and the first one is brutal: too sane, burn it, nobody climbs a mountain for sane. Side A takes you behind the first four tapes: the burned takes, the talk between takes, and the long, strange business of manufacturing a summons in a voice that isn't quite his own. There's a bartender who tells the same joke wrong on purpose, a Manager who hums a lullaby older than the building's ledgers, and an invitation on cream stock requesting the pleasure of his company. At brunch. Everything records. Whether it happened is a mixing decision. Side B picks up with Track Five. Episode 2_The Vizier

THE MORS DELECTAMENTI HOTEL — Episode Two: "The Vizier" A man who has spent thirty years deciding which version of events is permitted to survive is now making a record of his own. By choice, he insists. On a device he carried up the mountain himself. Izlanor Leohanart, Royal Vizier to the Principality of Vintenshad, ascends Carbowee Mountain in a private carriage, stripped of his wards at the gate, permitted to keep only a book and a recorder. He has been to this hotel before. He knows what stands on the summit. He knows what is appointed to occur beneath it tonight. And he is climbing anyway, because the only alternative is to remain at a gate in the cold and say aloud the reason he cannot. Three weeks ago, a knight of the Cerulean Academy played him a recording of a young man's voice and studied his face to learn what it would do. The knight recorded what he saw as a confession. Let him. The second guest checks in. The vizier does not remain at gates. The hotel has been expecting him — it remembers all its guests, especially the ones who insist they are only here on business of the crown.
