#46 The Best Investment You’ll Never Be Able to Hold (We’d Rather Buy a Car)

We’ll spend thousands on a TV, a car or a watch without blinking, but hesitate to invest in ourselves. Why? When you buy something physical, you walk away with it in your hands. When you invest in a course, a coach or a mentor, there’s nothing to hold. The return comes later, sometimes months later, and often in ways you couldn’t have predicted. That’s exactly what makes it so scary, and so valuable. In this episode, we (Ingvild and Daniel) get honest about our own fears, doubts and mistakes around investing in our personal growth. Daniel shares how he spent €15,000 on a 3-day mentorship, and how hard it was to say yes. Ing talks about investing half her savings in 5 days in Mexico, a decision that ended up transforming her work and our relationship. We also talk about why you can’t measure this kind of work in hours, and about the €1,000 watch that led to one of our biggest fights. In this conversation: Why the real yes or no comes from your gut, not your head Buying an identity vs. actually doing the work Why breakthroughs fade when you come home, and how to integrate them How to make these decisions together as a couple Why “what does it cost me?” is the wrong question Let's connect online: 1. #45 Let's dissect the belief 'I need to be strong.'

What does “I need to be strong” actually mean, and what is it costing you? In this episode, Daniel Kluken examines the belief that strength means carrying everyone else’s responsibilities, refusing to slow down, and suppressing emotion. He explores how these patterns are learned from parents, role models, and culture, then passed into our relationships, families, and businesses. At 12:03, Daniel Kluken looks at the fear that allowing feelings to surface could make everything collapse. He explains why emotional suppression can build pressure that eventually emerges as burnout, anxiety, panic attacks, or depression. The episode also offers a different definition of strength: making room for every part of yourself, including grief, anger, fear, joy, and love. As Daniel Kluken puts it at 23:51, the goal isn’t to get rid of those parts, but to accept them, give them “a seat on the table,” and build a relationship with them. Let's connect online: 1. #44 This One Question You Ask Daily Is Keeping You Stuck Personally, Financially, In Love

   1. The “Why” Question as a Source of Stagnation The conversation focused on the idea that asking “Why am I stuck?” can reinforce the very condition a person wants to change 00:00. Examples included: “Why am I not good enough?” “Why has he or she left me?” “Why am I not able to make more income or profit?” “Why am I not successful enough?” The discussion acknowledged that asking why is part of human curiosity, but connected the question to the way the brain searches for supporting evidence 00:57. People were described as “input and output” systems and learning machines that respond to the information being requested 01:07. 2. The Internal Waiter Metaphor One concept discussed was the brain as an internal waiter that serves the evidence requested through a question 01:34. Asking “Why am I not good enough?” was compared to placing an order for evidence proving that belief. The brain searches through experiences, memories, and internal information, described as an “internal map,” to find relevant examples 02:03. Once the evidence is found, the belief can feel like an objective part of reality 02:55. The metaphor was extended to beliefs about income, sales, dating, and personal capability 02:24. 3. How Questions Can Reinforce Personal Problems The discussion explored how asking another person why a problem exists can cause that person to search for more evidence supporting the problem 03:35. An external question can make the belief more solid because the person must locate the evidence internally and then explain it aloud 04:09. Speaking the explanation out loud was presented as an additional reinforcement of the belief 04:39. Statements such as “I’m not good enough because…” were described as shaping reality through language and repetition 04:52. The conversation compared this process to a spell or incantation that gains power when brought into the outside world 05:06. 4. The Power of Spoken Self-Descriptions A key theme that emerged was that words can influence how a person experiences identity, capability, and limitation 05:28. Negative explanations about business growth or personal ability were described as making change more difficult when repeated aloud. The discussion contrasted limiting declarations with constructive statements such as “I’m the most confident person in the room” 06:08. Positive statements were connected to deliberately finding evidence for a strength or area of expertise 06:16. The central warning was that the why question can help a person become even more stuck 06:36. 5. The Stories Produced by “Why” Several points were raised about the long narratives that can emerge when people are asked why they live in a particular reality 06:43. The response to a why question may become a 10-minute, 15-minute, 30-minute, or 45-minute account of personal history and circumstances 07:05. The discussion did not present storytelling or therapy as inherently wrong, but emphasized that the why question has a particular effect 07:27. The importance of recognizing when a question is producing explanation without creating movement was emphasized 07:43. 6. Replacing “Why” With “How” The discussion introduced the how question as a way to “open the door of the prison” created through limiting beliefs 07:49. The example of perfectionism showed how “Why am I a perfectionist?” invites evidence supporting the identity. Reframing the statement as “You are doing perfectionism” separates the person from the behavior 08:06. The shift from “I am a perfectionist” to “I am doing perfectionism” was presented as a move from identity to behavior 08:51. This change creates a different perspective and reduces the sense that the behavior defines the whole person 09:44. 7. Identity-Level Beliefs and Behavioral Patterns The conversation examined the strength of “I am” statements, including “I am powerful,” “I am confident,” “I am lovable,” and “I am good en
