Sages for the Ages | Father's Day 2026
<p>Sages for the Ages | 2 Kings 5</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="78:1-78:188;3170-3357">Happy Father's Day. This week's message is for every person who has — or has had — an old man in their life worth celebrating. And for those who are becoming that person for someone else.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="80:1-80:314;3359-3672">We open in 1 Samuel 2:31, where God delivers a sobering warning to Eli the priest: there will no longer be an old man in your house. Eli was good in many ways, but he was passive where he needed to be decisive. His failure to correct his sons set off a chain reaction that God promised would echo for generations.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="82:1-82:451;3674-4124">The message of today isn't condemnation — it's a celebration. A celebration of the fathers, the grandfathers, the elders, the sages who stayed. Who may not have had much to say, but when they spoke, you listened. Who handed you a silver dollar from a jar when you were a child, and you never forgot it. Who told you things you didn't understand then, but needed desperately later — because wisdom is something you deposit in you before you need it.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="84:1-84:244;4126-4369">We trace the consequences of rejecting elder wisdom through the life of King Rehoboam, who stood at a crossroads with Solomon's own counselors on one side and his college friends on the other — and chose wrong. What followed divided a kingdom.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="86:1-86:175;4371-4545">And we close with this: you cannot live right unless you love right. The world needs leaders who carry the wisdom of God, the love of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="88:1-88:108;4547-4654"><strong>Today's Scripture:</strong> 1 Samuel 2:31 | Deuteronomy 32:7 | 1 Kings 12:6–14 | Ecclesiastes 7:12 | Psalm 90:12</p> <p> </p>

Transformed Through Trouble
<p>Transformed Through Trouble I Psalm 4:1 KJV</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="140:1-140:62;6054-6115">"Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress." — Psalm 4:1</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="142:1-142:224;6117-6340">David's prayer in Psalm 4 reveals something counterintuitive and transformative: the very place that felt most constricted — the narrow, backed-in-a-corner place — was the place where God did His greatest work of expansion.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="144:1-144:285;6342-6626">In this episode of the Word of Faith Cathedral Podcast, Bishop Dale Bronner unpacks the Hebrew behind Psalm 4:1 (tsarar = distress; raba = enlarged) and builds a message around a principle that changes everything: <strong>God uses trouble as a tool of transformation, not destruction.</strong></p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="146:1-146:291;6628-6918">Through the lens of Paul's extraordinary résumé of suffering, James 1:2's call to "consider it joy," the friction principle, and the story of Hagar's wilderness encounters — Bishop Bronner shows us how to reframe every hard season not as a sign of abandonment, but as an invitation to grow.</p> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="148:1-148:297;6920-7216">He also unpacks the egg principle — the idea that God doesn't crack you open from the outside. He enlarges you until you break out from the inside. And he calls every listener to consider whether they are positioned to be the one person who shifts the generational destiny of their entire family.</p> <hr class="border-border-200 border-t-0.5 my-3 mx-1.5" /> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="152:1-152:32;7223-7254"><strong>This episode is for you if:</strong></p> <ul class= "[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3" data-sourcepos="153:1-157:89;7255-7624"> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="153:1-153:65;7255-7319">You're in a constricted, tight, "I can't see a way out" season</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="154:1-154:85;7320-7404">You've been wondering why things got harder after you committed to God, not easier</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="155:1-155:75;7405-7479">You want to understand what "consider it joy" (James 1:2) actually means</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="156:1-156:56;7480-7535">You feel unseen, overlooked, or pushed to the margins</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="157:1-157:89;7536-7624">You sense you might be the one God wants to use to break something open in your family</li> </ul> <hr class="border-border-200 border-t-0.5 my-3 mx-1.5" /> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="161:1-161:19;7631-7649"><strong>Key Takeaways:</strong></p> <ul class= "[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3" data-sourcepos="162:1-170:70;7650-8239"> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="162:1-162:71;7650-7720">Tsarar (distress) and raba (enlarged) — the paradox of Psalm 4:1</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="163:1-163:51;7721-7771">Nothing grows in the comfort zone but mediocrity</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="164:1-164:66;7772-7837">"Consider it joy" means think differently, not feel differently</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="165:1-165:55;7838-7892">Friction creates fire — passion always includes pain</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="166:1-166:70;7893-7962">Everything that comes into your life is either God-sent or God-used</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="167:1-167:47;7963-8009">El Roi: you are seen by the God who sees you</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="168:1-168:82;8010-8091">God doesn't break you out — He enlarges you until you break out from the inside</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="169:1-169:78;8092-8169">"Don't leave your trouble without the glory — there is glory in your story"</li> <li class= "font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2" data-sourcepos="170:1-170:70;8170-8239">If you didn't come from a victorious family — let one come from you</li> </ul> <hr class="border-border-200 border-t-0.5 my-3 mx-1.5" /> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="174:1-174:163;8246-8408"> <strong>Scriptures:</strong> Psalm 4:1 | Psalm 119:71 | Psalm 34:19 | Romans 8:18, 28 | James 1:2 | 2 Corinthians 11:25–28 | Genesis 16:1–13 | Genesis 21:14–18 | Matthew 23:12</p> <hr class="border-border-200 border-t-0.5 my-3 mx-1.5" /> <p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal" data-sourcepos="178:1-178:129;8415-8543">🎧 Subscribe, leave a review, and share this episode with someone who's in a hard season and needs to know God is still at work.</p>
