Episode 5 - Mozart

At 1 am on December 5 he died suddenly and unexpectedly. His corpse was consecrated in a cheap coffin and brought to the St. Marx Cemetery outside Vienna without any funeral cortege. Only the undertaker kept him company as the corpse, covered in a linen cloth, was lowered into a simple grave with five other deceased. The exact spot remains unknown. A monument, erected many years after his death at St. Marx Cemetery, commemorates the great composer and musician.

Sources for this episode:

Apollo et Hyacinthus, Mozart’s First opera:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g7-7zPZDr0

K.397, Fantasia in D minor:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BkZ8ci8_k4

The Magic Flute – Queen of the Night aria

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuBeBjqKSGQ

Mozart - Don Giovanni - complete

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL2VdxseTvE

Mozart Piano concerto no 27 in B flat major, KV 595 Trevor Pinnock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idvrich2Tyw

Other Sources:

https://www.biography.com/musician/wolfgang-mozart

https://www.britannica.com/biography/Wolfgang-Amadeus-Mozart

https://www.classicfm.com/composers/mozart/

https://www.classicfm.com/composers/mozart/pictures/mozarts-15-birthday-facts/

http://www.mozart.com/
