The Cathartic Episode of F*CKING ARGENTINA
In the final episode of our series F*cking Argentina, we sat down with Gregg Greenberg and talked to him about writing the book that came out of the pandemic, his favorite stories and key themes, and why it's worth getting yourself a copy to read or gift this for the holidays! For anyone out there who says, "I don't know if I can publish a book." Gregg says, "Yes, you can!" What frustrated, irritated and exasperated him in real life served as a starting point for writing these unforgettable short stories. Tune in to this hilarious and exasperating tale of F*CKING ARGENTINA with Gregg Greenberg and Tom Fox. ▶️ ABOUT THE BOOK F*cking Argentina and 10 More Tales of Exasperation by Gregg Greenberg is a compilation of short stories that dive into the American phenomenon of being in a near-perpetual state of aggravation. Greenberg's anthology brings together eleven original pieces of work, each with their own slice of independent and distinct plot lines but all converging on the universal theme of exasperation. They run the whole gamut of scenarios, from the titular story "F*cking Argentina" wherein the country is once again in bankruptcy and a polite game of tug o' war plays out on a porch, to "A Journeyman Tennis Player's Prayer" with a low ranking U.S. Open contender begging God for a comparable opponent. Both stories end with the superlative f-word, which showcases at some point in other stories, and a guaranteed chuckle from their readers. Buy the book here: http://fckingargentina.com/. Back Off Baxter
Welcome to the newest addition to the Compliance Podcast Network featuring the book F*CKING ARGENTINA, where we unpack some of the current exasperation of American life today. Humor writer Greg Greenberg tells the tale of a ubiquitous dog walker meeting a father taking his daughter to school in the streets in New York. "There's a reason why there are pooper scooper laws. I'm not asking for a massive crackdown, but the dog owners feel that the sidewalks are their territory. And I don't think it's always fair. And this story is a little bit of exasperation, the narrator having to deal with that in the streets." Malodor on the Number Five Express
There's a certain etiquette involved in why we don't see people eating in subways. What is BFJ?
Humor writer Gregg Greenberg has such distaste or disdain for Billy Joel's music that he can remember the lyrics to. "When I was growing up in Hicksville, they kept making us sing his songs in the chorus in elementary school and junior high school. They would play it at the mall. You just could not escape Billy Joel." In his book F*cking Argentina and 10 More Tales of Exasperation, Greenberg writes his sentiments in an autobiographical fashion. The short story tells of a guy who's in love with this girl, but she has this one terrible character trait — she loves Billy Joel's music! She sings it in the shower, watches his videos, and even wants her boyfriend to a BJ concert. And such is the deal-breaker for the guy who hates Billy Joel that much! A Journey Tennis Player's Prayer
A journeyman tennis player who plays for the first time in the U.S. Open prays the darndest not to be pitted against Roger Federer. In this funny tale, the character shares, "Can you blame me? It's like he's the illegitimate Swiss son of James Bond, Cary Grant, and Bjorn Borg." Our exasperated tennis player thinks his own mother will root for Federer against him! Couple's Dinner by Gregg Greenberg
Gregg Greenberg yet again entertains and frustrates us in this chapter of his book, which can indeed be a scenario you can relate to where he explores the social awkwardness of dealing with the "I'm better than you" sorts of people. In a funny chapter entitled The Last Couples Dinner, he tells how the character of Jodi has been postponing a dinner date with her best friend and her husband, who is an "X+1" personality whose nature is to one-up everything anyone else says. Jodi runs out of reasons and pushes through with the dinner. Her meek and mild-mannered husband, David, teaches a trick or two and flexes a strategy on how to strike back at a one-upper gracefully. Officer Krupke
The famous stage musical West Side Story's new adaptation, set for release this December 2021, is met with anticipation, as its story and lessons still resonate today. Humor writer Gregg Greenberg and I sit down and talk about the film we cherish from our young days and how he dedicates a chapter in his book F*cking Argentina for an unforgettable character Officer Krupke. In this tale, Officer Krupke is trying to be an actor, and he's convincing to get his agent to get him a part. He suggests he could play a bad cop, but his agent argues against it. Will he be able to land a show on television? Fans will find this funny and absurd in a book that everyone would surely enjoy. #OfficerKrupkeStrikesBack ABOUT THE BOOK F*cking Argentina and 10 More Tales of Exasperation by Gregg Greenberg is a compilation of short stories that dive into the American phenomenon of being in a near-perpetual state of aggravation. F*cking Argentina with Gregg Greenberg and Thomas Fox
Well, F*cking Argentina! You may as well express this phrase of irritation as comedy writer Gregg Greenberg explains the genesis that ended up being the title of his book. In this episode, we explore exasperation with the country of Argentina, national economies, and the global financial order. Having worked in the financial industry as an analyst and commentator, Gregg writes much of this chapter from 2020 when major financial powerhouse BlackRock Inc. was getting upset because Argentina would not pay them back. "How many times has Argentina devalued their currency or has gone bankrupt? It just seems that every few years, Argentina borrows a lot of money, whether it be from Wall Street banks, who you think would be savvy enough not to lend them anymore or at least lend it to them at exorbitant interest rates. It just seems, though, that if someone knocks on my door, which is what happens in the story and says, hey, Gregg, can I borrow 500 billion? I would think twice if it was Argentina."
