[…] Right. And the function of regret, right? Which is, you know, when we look back on our lives, it's very common to say things like, oh, if I had only done this or that, right? Life makes sense backwards, but we have to live it forwards. It only makes sense when you look at it backwards. The forward is completely unknown. And I think it's a great quote to choose, Russ, for a jumping off point into Kierkegaard, because Kierkegaard is one of the fathers of existentialism, which is a movement and philosophy that is kind of concerned with choice and what it's like to be a human being. And I think this quote really highlights one of the things that all of the existentialists, and especially even the ones like Sartre and Camus, who kind of took a lot of Kierkegaard's insight and tried to strip it of its religious content, but keep the so-called existentialist content of it, they really latch onto this too.
