Hey! — Wha' Happened?!

After an unplanned and extended time of hiatus, Kevin and Hartley re-connect to discuss a new focus. Unfortunately, their conversation gets Trumped.

SHOW NOTES:

What is the deal with this "we're back" conversation and Hartley's obsession with missing time on the podcast grid? Will it ever end?Hartley's familiar lamenting over their podcast silence reemerges and consumes the early segment of this episode. His comments regarding the unexpected hiatus are unnecessary and his concern over losing listeners results from a false sense of guilt. Hartley's obsession regarding the frequency and infrequency of episodes corresponds to a podcast season in which episodes 7-25 episodes are released consecutively before a month or longer hiatus. A season format allows time to recharge creatively between seasons during a brief time of hiatus. Even though the structure of Faith, Finances and F*Bombs IS a narrative podcast, this episode is released after an eight-month "hiatus:" clearly our hosts have recharged, but...creatively?—you be the judge! Hopefully, Hartley's lamenting will stop. The executive producers have informed Hartley the podcast's long-term listeners are loyal and, furthermore, have become accustomed to this podcast's narrative structure and likely listen as they can as episodes are available. Only time will tell whether we hear his further whines.

A Mighty Wind is a 2003 mockumentary comedy film written by Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy, produced by Castle Rock Entertainment.

The song Welcome Back was written and recorded by Lovin' Spoonful frontman John Sebastian, released March 1976 on the Reprise record label.

Let Hartley and Kevin know YOU are still listening by messaging 'Welcome Back' to f.bombs@hartleywright.com.

This episode announces our contest winner of 2024's record high predictions: <winner's name omitted> is the lucky winner of <prize fund disappeared>.

Comment—What do you think?

X / Tweet™ to us | @FaithMoneyBomb
Leave a comment via Email | f.bombs@hartleywright.com

Connect With Us:

Hartley Facebook / Twitter / Threads
Kevin Facebook / Blog

Show Credits:

Sounds by Zapsplat.com

Announcer: Dr. K.J. Sally Talley and the WBA

The 5th of July! This week on the podcast, Hartley and Kevin have fun with a fireworks theme. They reminisce over explosive experiences, discuss the rockets and dive bombs on the market, and share past and present smoke bombs.

Show Notes:

The "Talley Trilogy" of the late playwright Lanford Wilson:

Talley and Son, Setting: Lebanon, Missouri, July 4, 1944 (Premiered: 1985)

Talley's Folly, Setting: An old boathouse in rural Missouri, July 4, 1944 (Premiered: 1980)

5th of July, Setting: Lebanon, Missouri, July 5, 1977 (premiered: 1978)

Hartley references the article detailing the signal of the final evacuation of the Vietnam War.

God as a consuming fire is not just about his judgment or discipline. It is also about his glory and majesty.
“When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, ‘He is good; his love endures forever’” (2 Chronicles 7:1-3).

There is something majestic and awesome about the presence of God, his glory consumes everything around it. When he shows up, nothing else can stand in his presence. We become like Isaiah in his vision of the Lord.
“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple” (Isaiah 6:1).
“’Woe to me!’ I cried. ‘I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty’” (Isaiah 6:5).

The overwhelming majesty of who he is will cause you to bow, whether you like it or not. This is why God is a consuming fire. Hartley encourages listeners to go before God in worship and prayer remembering who he is, why God is a consuming fire: He is trying to burn away the things that harm you and prevent you from being what he wants you to be.

Comment—What do you think?

X / Tweet™ to us | @FaithMoneyBomb
Leave a comment via Email | f.bombs@hartleywright.com

Connect With Us:

Hartley Facebook / Twitter / Threads
Kevin Facebook / Blog

Show Credits:

Sounds by Zapsplat.com

Announcer: Dr. K.J.
