Thirsty For God
<p>Mark Roberts an American Presbyterian pastor and a writer, writes: 'On a mountain hike...we spotted a peak that seemed to be just a couple of miles further, so we headed for it. By the time we conquered it we did used up most of our water. Our return...was mercifully downhill, but there wasn't even a tiny spring to slake our nagging thirst...I spent three hours longing for water, thinking of nothing else besides how wonderful it would feel to get a drink'. </p> <p>When David wrote, 'My soul thirsts for You...in a dry and weary land where there is no water', his enemies were pressing in on him and he wondered if God had forgotten him. </p> <p><br></p> <p>Ever been there? Your PAIN is UNBEARABLE and God FEELS distant? Just as PHYSICAL thirst is YOUR body's WAY of telling YOU that YOU need WATER, inside you THERE'S a SPIRITUAL thirst ONLY God can QUENCH. And He will: '..[When you] require Me [as a vital necessity]...[you will] find Me when you search...with all your heart' (Jeremiah 29:13 AMP). Half-hearted EFFORTS won't cut it! One Bible teacher says: 'The only way to know God is...FIRST-HAND. Those who are CONTENT to know Him through a SECOND-HAND relationship DON'T really know Him...They WANT others to PRAY for them RATHER than praying THEMSELVES...to provide the VERSE rather than reading it THEMSELVES. They are content with a TV church, or a SERMON on the internet...Every PERSON needs to TEST God...to SEE if He is WHO He says...if His PROMISES are true...if He will ANSWER your PRAYERS...if He will be THERE when you NEED Him...if He will GIVE you WISDOM, STRENGTH, ENDURANCE and PERSEVERANCE...He is, they ARE, and He WILL every TIME'.</p> <p>Scripture Reference: '...MY SOUL THIRSTS FOR YOU...IN A...LAND WHERE IS NO WATER'. <p><strong>The Impossible Shall Be Made Possible (2 Kings 4:8-17)</strong></p> <p><strong>Elisha and the Shunammite Woman</strong></p> <p>There are areas in your life that you have tagged or labelled IMPOSSIBLE. These may include areas in your finances, marriage, personal goals, health or other things that bother your peace. The Shunammite woman from <strong>2 Kings 4:8-17</strong> was well to do but she had one need in her life that had an IMPOSSIBLE tag boldly labelled.</p> <p>Whatever your very needs are, how ever impossible they seem to be: as you bring God into the situation your life will see a manifestation of miracles to turn your story around. Believe in God, He works through the IMPOSSIBLE. Stay blessed and remember to share the word.</p> <p><strong>2 Kings 4:8-17</strong></p> <p><strong>8 </strong>One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food. <strong>9 </strong>And she said to her husband, “Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God who is continually passing our way. <strong>10 </strong>Let us make a small room on the roof with walls and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there.”</p> <p><strong>11 </strong>One day he came there, and he turned into the chamber and rested there. <strong>12 </strong>And he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite.” When he had called her, she stood before him. <strong>13 </strong>And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘See, you have taken all this trouble for us; what is to be done for you? Would you have a word spoken on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’” She answered, “I dwell among my own people.” <strong>14 </strong>And he said, “What then is to be done for her?” Gehazi answered, “Well, she has no son, and her husband is old.” <strong>15 </strong>He said, “Call her.” And when he had called her, she stood in the doorway. <strong>16 </strong>And he said, “At this season, about this time next year, you shall embrace a son.” And she said, “No, my lord, O man of God; do not lie to your servant.” <strong>17 </strong>But the woman conceived, and she bore a son about that time the following spring, as Elisha had said to her.</p>
