About Family Worship Companion

Hi, my name is Armen Thomassian. I am the Pastor of Faith FPC in Greenville, SC. Family Worship Companion is first and foremost a ministry to Faith FPC. If I could open the Bible with each individual and family under my care, what would I say? I would walk through the Bible sequentially, Christologically, and practically. Moving from Genesis to Revelation, the goal will be to see the glories of the person and work of Christ, with relevant and practical takeaways for children, young adults, parents, seniors, etc, that each can immediately apply to their lives. The intention is not to replace individual or family worship, but to encourage and supplement the worship of God in every household. It may also function as a help in other settings (read the guide on our website for ideas). Video Podcast available on https://familyworshipcompanion.com

   The Ten Commandments

The sermon presents the Ten Commandments not as a legalistic burden but as a divine charter revealing God's character and the true nature of freedom—freedom to fulfill His will after being redeemed from sin's bondage. Rooted in both creation and redemption, the law exposes human sinfulness, reveals God's holy standards, and points to the need for a mediator, ultimately fulfilled in Christ. It calls believers to prioritize God above all else, honor authority as a reflection of divine sovereignty, and live with integrity in speech, rest, and relationships, all grounded in the grace of salvation. The Sabbath is portrayed as a sacred gift of rest and joy, foreshadowing eternal rest in Christ, while the law's demands are met not by human effort but by faith in the sacrificial work of Jesus, who alone removes condemnation and transforms the heart to delight in obedience.
