Fandom Variables is a new podcast with reviews of TV shows and movies, especially in the sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero genres. Stay tuned for more as this podcast gets started, and thank you for listening.
I'm (finally) back to talk about TV shows of 2022. And, there was a lot to cover.
In this episode, I talk about...
- 4400 (season 1, cancelled)
- Andor (season 1)
- The Blacklist (season 9)
- The Book of Boba Fett (season 1)
- The Boys (season 3)
- The Crown (season 5)
- For All Mankind (season 3)
- Gentleman Jack (season 2)
- The Good Fight (season 6, final season)
- Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (season 1)
- Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (season 4)
- Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (season 2)
- Moon Knight (season 1)
- Ms. Marvel (season 1)
- Obi-Wan Kenobi (season 1)
- The Orville: New Horizons (season 3)
- Outlander (season 6)
- The Peripheral (season 1)
- The Problem With Jon Stewart (season 2)
- Quantum Leap (revival, season 1)
- Real World Homecoming (season 2): Los Angeles
- Real World Homecoming (season 3): New Orleans
- She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (season 1)
- Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 1)
- Stranger Things (season 4)
- Time Traveler’s Wife (season 1, cancelled)
- Willow (season 1, still in progress)
That's over two dozen shows! But, they're listed here in alphabetical order. I talked about them roughly in order of "least-good" to best, scoring each one between 1 to 10 (shows of the same score not necessarily being in any particular order).
- What got a 1 or 2?
- What got a 9 or 10?
- How many "hot-takes" do I have? Are they the same ones you'd consider hot-takes? Or, are some of my opinions not as controversial as I think they are?
- Was my favorite Disney+ show from Marvel, Star Wars, or something else?
- Was my favorite Paramount+ show a Star Trek show, a lawyer show, or a reality show?
- How did the three network shows on my list fare against all the streaming shows?
Listen now to find out the answers to all of these and other questions as I...finally...bring my solo podcast back to life to talk about TV shows of the year 2022.

#002 - TV Review - Book of Boba Fett - 1.01 & 1.02 "Stranger in a Strange Land" and "The Tribes of Tatooine"
Welcome back to Fandom Variables, the podcast that actually had a name at the time of recording this time around. In the 2nd installment, I'm covering the first two episodes of "The Book of Boba Fett," the new Star Wars series on Disney+. The episode titles are "Chapter 1: Stranger in a Strange Land" and "Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine."
I break down for you my positives and negatives for both episodes. Listen now to find out which of the two episodes I liked a little better and why.
You can contact me at FandomVariables@gmail.com.
Also, check out the other podcast I'm on, The Discerning Geeks Portal Podcast, at linktr.ee/discerninggeeks. And, be on the lookout for Discerning Lurkers Portal: A Babylon 5 Podcast, our first spinoff, coming in a few weeks, probably February 2022.
Public domain songs used for the intro & outro music were "Blacksmith" and "Blood Eagle," both by Alexander Nakarada, via FreePD.com.

#001 - A Birthday, A New Year, and A New Podcast - 2021 TV & Movie Recap
Welcome to Fandom Variables! :) I am your host, Todd, and this inaugural episode was recorded on December 31, my birthday, on a whim & without even having a name decided during recording (I had one in mind; more on that below). And, maintaining my superpower of procrastination, I'm still not publishing it until six days later.
I'm a geek & really like talking about TV shows & movies in the sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero genres. I'm already one-fourth of The Discerning Geeks Portal podcast (check that out) and one-half of the upcoming Discerning *Lurkers* Portal: A Babylon 5 Podcast (be on the lookout). But, here, at least for now, I'm all three-thirds of a one-person show. My other two podcasts will always be my higher priorities, but this podcast will be for those things that slip between the cracks -- things that maybe only I want to talk about or can talk about in the moment.
In this episode, I took a look back at TV & movies from 2021, including...
- WandaVision
- Lost In Space
- Falcon and the Winter Soldier
- Loki
- Hawkeye
- The Might Ducks: Game Changers
- For All Mankind
- Superman & Lois
- Legends of Tomorrow
- The Blacklist
- 4400
- Marvel's What If?...
- Wheel of Time
- Invincible
- Foundation
- Mythic Quest
- Dickinson
- The Flash
- Batwoman
- Stargirl
- Book of Boba Fett
- Leverage: Redemption
- The Witcher
- Masters of the Universe: Revelation
- Looking forward to The Orville season 3 and a possible Babylon 5 reboot in 2022
- Spider-Man: No Way Home
- Eternals
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
- No Time To Die
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife
- Black Widow
- Zack Synder's Justice League
- Godzilla vs. Kong
- Matrix Resurrections
Yep. All that...one episode.

Obviously, I thought of a name after recording. Actually, it's a name I've been "sitting on" for over 1.5 years. It was one of a myriad of un-used suggestions for the name of the podcast I do with my friends. I hesitated to use it because, since then, another podcast I listen to also has the word fandom in it. But, I couldn't think of a name I liked better (Fandom Variables is a play on words for Random Variables). So, I'm explaining here, to ensure that I'm not half-copycatting.
