[…] I don't want it to feel so extreme. So when you keep them in a range of visibility, that is a much, much better alternative. They can still see you. They can still speak to you. They will still feel the weight of the consequence, I assure you. But they don't feel totally disconnected from you. So that's alternative number one. Alternative number two, which is what I try to practice, and it is the greater recommendation that I have for you, and that is to realize and to have the proper expectation that fatherhood is hard that children bring chaos and challenge and that's an opportunity for you so sometimes if not most of the time the right thing for us to do as fathers is to inconvenience ourselves so that we can teach our kids so that we can not just discipline in the way that we think of consequences and punishments but in the proper sense of discipline, disciple, so that we can actually teach them and show them what is right to do.
