About Fausto’s Room

Welcome to Fausto's Room. No rules. No script. No idea where this is going — and that's the whole point. I get comedians, magicians, athletes, YouTubers, musicians, and artists in a room and we just... talk. About the insane stuff they've survived, the ridiculous risks they took, the times it all fell apart, and the wild, creative, one-of-a-kind lives they built anyway. It's funny. It's real. It gets deep when you least expect it. One minute we're crying laughing, the next we're accidentally solving your entire life. Come for the wild stories. Stay because you feel a little less alone — and walk away with the blueprint for the life you actually want. Pull up a chair. This is gonna be good.

The Dark Side of Being a Child Star | Baywatch’s Jeremy Jackson

Fausto's Room | Jeremy Jackson Jeremy Jackson was ten years old and on the biggest show in the world. As Hobie on Baywatch — plus 60 commercials, a music career, and a World Music Hall of Fame induction — he had everything a kid could dream of, and underneath it all he felt like he was never enough. In this raw, wide-ranging conversation, Jeremy traces the whole arc: how fame collided with a childhood of real trauma, how the "egomaniac with an inferiority complex" chased one high after another, and how it eventually came crashing down. He opens up — for the first time anywhere — about his marriage and its devastating end, the relapse that broke 14 years of sobriety, and the legal ordeal that followed. He doesn't try to prove who was right or wrong; he looks hard at his own part, his codependency, and the power of a mind that will only see what it wants to see. It's one of the most honest accounts of denial, accountability, and hitting bottom you'll hear. And then the climb back: the spiritual turn that finally made him feel enough, reprogramming his mind one thought at a time, and falling in love with breathwork — the work that now has him leading retreats in Costa Rica and guiding others through their own healing. This is a conversation about fame, trauma, obsession, and how a man rebuilds himself from the ground up. What you'll take away: ✅ Why outside success can never fix an inside wound ✅ How denial keeps us stuck — and what real accountability looks like ✅ How an addictive obsession can be redirected from destruction to healing ✅ How breath, stillness, and spirituality can release trauma stored in the body For anyone who's chased approval and still felt empty, survived their lowest point, or is learning that the thing that broke them doesn't get the final word. Chapters: 00:00 Cold open: fame, loss, and rock bottom 01:14 90s nostalgia: wrestling, rollerblades, and fitting in 04:56 Baywatch: live-stream before live-stream 06:02 The psychology of child stardom: famous and not enough 10:34 Why no one warned him about the money 12:40 Learning to perform: a kid alone in his room 30:24 When the world only sees the character 33:28 Acting by reliving your own trauma 38:03 Leaving Baywatch and chasing the darkness 41:10 The trauma underneath the fame 42:09 Trading one obsession for fitness and jiu jitsu 47:40 Fourteen years sober, the relapse, and going into hiding 52:19 The lowest point, and the power of denial 56:46 Arrest, two years in court, and writing to clarity 1:02:25 Owning his part: codependency and accountability 1:06:43 Finding "enough": the spiritual turn 1:09:30 Reprogramming the mind: the seven-day mental diet 1:12:34 Breathwork, Costa Rica, and the work he does now 1:24:15 How trauma lives in the body 1:30:24 Where to find Jeremy 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Connect with Jeremy: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremyjackson Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto If this episode brings up something heavy for you, you're not alone — call or text 1-877-587-1558. 🎧 Create. How to Make a Living as a Content Creator in Your 20s

Fausto's Room | Laisha Martinez Laisha Martinez picked up a camera at one year sober with no idea what she was doing — and today she hosts one of the most recognizable podcasts in the recovery world, Fuck the Stigma, and runs her own production company. In this episode, two content creators go deep on how she actually built it: editing her first episodes out of the garage of a detox, learning cameras and lighting through Google and trial and error, and the cinematic revamp and podcast clips that finally made it take off. But it wasn't a straight line. Laisha opens up about the move to Baltimore that nearly broke her recovery, the year she almost quit the show, the stretch of catering gigs and a treatment-center job that left her lost and stressed — and the single Instagram DM that changed everything. She shares how she went all in, started iSight Studios, battled the imposter syndrome of "how could I be a business owner," and leaned on faith and action when she was one bad month from being homeless. It's also a masterclass for any creator: how to interview so the gold comes out, why clips drive everything, how to protect your mental health from the comments, how to charge what you're worth, and how to build a career without losing your soul to the algorithm. And it's about something bigger — learning there's more to you than your recovery story. What you'll take away: ✅ How to build something real with no experience and no blueprint ✅ Why consistency and just hitting "post" beat waiting until you're ready ✅ How to make money from your craft without losing why you started ✅ Why your identity is bigger than the hardest thing you've survived For any creator staring down the fear of posting, anyone in recovery building a life beyond it, and anyone trying to bet on themselves before they feel ready. Chapters: 00:00 Charging your worth and the awkward money talk 05:46 Why Facebook became her biggest platform 10:18 How it started: hired at 19, one year sober 12:41 Learning the gear in a detox garage 14:43 The second episode goes viral 16:08 "Wear your heart on your sleeve" 18:27 Why podcast clips drive everything 20:13 The year she almost gave up 21:14 Moving to Baltimore and meeting her mentor 26:04 Interviewing to find the gold 31:00 What makes a good host (and a bad one) 35:10 Difficult guests, and staying curious over judging 51:17 Online hate and protecting your mental health 56:20 The crossroads: create, or work in treatment 58:31 The DM that changed everything, and going all in 1:00:08 Imposter syndrome and finding her worth 1:01:08 Faith, action, and nearly being homeless 1:10:35 More than recovery: expanding her creativity 1:15:03 The movie-review dream and the inner child 1:21:09 Advice for starting a recovery podcast 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Connect with Laisha: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fthestigmapod/ (https://www.instagram.com/fthestigmapod/) Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@fthestigma (https://www.youtube.com/@fthestigma) Production company: iSight Studios Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto 🎧 Create. From Childhood Trauma to 22 Years Sober and a Wellness Empire | Michael Chernow

Fausto's Room | Michael Chernow Michael Chernow built The Meatball Shop and the wellness brand Kreatures of Habit — but before any of that, he was a kid surviving an abusive father, a childhood no one should have to live through, and years lost to drugs and alcohol. In this deeply honest conversation, the 22-years-sober founder opens up about the trauma he carried, the plant medicine journey he recently took to finally face it, and what it taught him about his father, his mother, and himself. Michael doesn't hold back: the abuse he lived through as a boy, the deep resentment he carried toward his mom for not protecting him, and the moment he realized that forgiving her — loving the person hardest to love — was the last chain he needed to break. He shares how fathering his own two sons rescued the scared kid still inside him, and why "father" is the greatest title he'll ever hold. From there it opens into what every relationship needs: why healthy conflict actually deepens intimacy, how to show up for your partner instead of trying to "fix" them, and what real masculinity looks like. Then Michael flips into founder mode — how a bowl of oatmeal became Kreatures of Habit, why brand and story beat product every time, and his advice for anyone too scared to take the swing. What you'll take away: ✅ How to break generational cycles instead of passing them on ✅ Why forgiving the people hardest to love sets you free ✅ How healthy conflict and real presence deepen a relationship ✅ Why your story — not your product — is what people actually buy For anyone carrying old wounds, learning to be the parent or partner they never had, or trying to build something real out of what they survived. Chapters: 00:00 The plant medicine journey: setting his intentions 02:07 A lifelong fear of illness, rooted in his father 03:33 Confronting his father and grandfather 07:10 Processing the childhood abuse 08:41 Leaning into faith, and Donna's resistance 18:56 The inner child, and fathering his sons 21:50 Doing the work the right way in sobriety 24:28 Opening his heart, and his mother as the "master test" 27:35 Why his deepest resentment ran toward his mom 31:44 Breaking the chain: "the best dad in the world" 36:22 Learning to love the people hardest to love 42:37 The abuse he survived — and refused to repeat 46:02 Masculinity: strong and emotionally available 48:24 "How do you want me to show up for you?" 52:45 Why healthy conflict deepens intimacy 59:12 Never go to bed angry 1:02:13 Intimacy, closeness, and what abuse leaves behind 1:15:23 Creatures of Habit: how oatmeal saved his life 1:19:16 Brand, story, and landing in 550 Sprouts 1:24:08 Take the swing: advice on risk and business 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Connect with Michael: Instagram: https://instagram.com/michaelchernow Kreatures of Habit: https://kreaturesofhabit.com Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto If this episode brings up something heavy for you, you're not alone — call or text 1-877-587-1558. 🎧 Create. The Undercover Cop Who Became the Criminal He Was Hunting | Ruben Palomares

Fausto's Room | Ruben Palomares Ruben Palomares has a story most people wouldn't believe if it weren't true. In his early twenties he was one of the LAPD's best — recruited straight out of the academy into the undercover "21 Jump Street" program, posing as a high schooler to buy drugs and weapons. Then he got shot at a payphone, survived, and shot back — and something in him changed. The adrenaline of the violence became a high he chased into the Rampart CRASH gang unit, where he became a feared "gunslinger" in the middle of the 90s gang wars. When the Rampart corruption scandal blew the unit apart, Ruben turned all the way. He recruited a crew, used his badge and his training to rob drug dealers, and spiraled into paranoia, addiction, and a darkness he now calls being a "monster." It ended in a federal sting and 16 years behind bars. But prison is where the real story begins. Three months in, a stranger preached to him — and Ruben was saved. He spent years in solitary preaching through the bars to lifers from every rival set, bringing light into one of the darkest places on earth. Today he's out, married, a father again, and a pastor, using everything he survived to reach the people no one else can. What you'll take away: ✅ How chasing adrenaline and respect can quietly turn into addiction ✅ What redemption actually looks like when you've hit the very bottom ✅ Why knowing and valuing yourself is the foundation of a second chance ✅ Real advice for anyone coming home from prison — and staying out For anyone who's been written off, done things they can't take back, or needs to believe that no one is too far gone to change. (His full 16-year prison story is coming in a future episode.) Chapters: 00:00 "If you're not a monster yourself": the cold open 02:19 What "21 Jump Street" really was 07:23 Learning the craft: buying dope on the boardwalk 09:13 Inside the school: befriending and buying from students 13:44 Losing yourself in the role 16:46 Robbed at gunpoint at a payphone 22:05 The first shooting: shot twice, firing back 23:41 When violence becomes a high 28:44 Becoming a "gunslinger" 30:09 Rampart CRASH and the 90s gang wars 50:33 The Rampart scandal breaks 54:04 Turning on the badge: robbing the dealers 56:12 Spiraling: suicidal, paranoid, out of control 1:03:46 Caught in a San Diego sting 1:06:26 Getting saved in prison 1:12:24 Preaching in solitary: light in a dark place 1:16:34 What broke these men: the common thread 1:19:09 Sixteen years, and who Ruben is today 1:24:06 Advice for coming home and staying out 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Get Ruben's book: Available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/-/he/Redemption-Rogue-Rayford-Lorenz-Johnson/dp/1548249599 Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto 🎧 Create. How God Saved Me and Led Me To My Purpose in Music l Michael Ketterer

Fausto's Room | Michael Ketterer Michael Ketterer's voice has reached tens of millions — his song "Spirit Lead Me" alone has passed 45 million streams — but the story underneath the music is one of repression, rock bottom, and slow, hard-won healing. Raised a minister's son, he learned to bury every feeling after his parents' divorce got the family cast out of their own church. Music became his escape, his identity, and the only place he felt seen. He turned down a record deal after a dream told him he was "already famous in heaven," helped build United Pursuit into a worship movement that blew up on Facebook, and then said yes to fostering and adopting five kids from deeply traumatic beginnings. That yes cracked him wide open. The wounds he'd hidden for decades surfaced, he leaned on alcohol to cope, and it nearly cost him everything — his marriage, his freedom, a very public high and a very private low. This episode is the comeback: getting sober, years of therapy, learning to feel again, and finally being able to sing the songs he wrote long before he had the freedom to mean them. It's about faith, fatherhood, creativity, and why doing the inner work is the most important thing any artist can do. What you'll take away: ✅ Why doing the internal work is what makes an artist's voice authentic ✅ How the hardest "yes" of his life became the thing that set him free ✅ What real recovery looks like — therapy, humility, and radical vulnerability ✅ Why resting instead of striving can grow your impact, not shrink it For anyone carrying wounds they've learned to hide, chasing a calling through the long quiet years, or trying to believe their pain might one day become purpose. (His full America's Got Talent story is coming in a future episode.) Chapters: 00:00 Doing less to impact more: resting in God's love 02:07 The day they got their boys: raising five from foster care 05:26 "A blessing in disguise" — and the wounds it exposed 08:46 Music as his first coping tool, and a childhood of repression 19:27 "If I lost my voice, who would I be?" 23:32 Chasing the dream in a pre-internet world 26:35 The record deal and the dream that changed everything 32:36 United Pursuit: raw worship that blew up on Facebook 44:37 Fifteen years of grinding before the "overnight" success 47:27 Spiritual manipulation, compromise, and walking away 1:00:28 The divorce, the shame, and being cast out 1:07:54 "You're not cleaning for your boss, you're cleaning for God" 1:09:36 Top of the world and bottom of the world 1:10:13 Getting sober and becoming radically vulnerable 1:15:32 "Grateful": singing the songs he couldn't sing before 1:20:01 Fame for a day and the weight it carries 1:23:22 The America's Got Talent & lyrics guessing game 1:37:04 Advice for artists, and where to find Michael 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Connect with Michael: Instagram: https://instagram.com/michaelketterer Spotify: search "Michael Ketterer" Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto 🎧 Create. From Homeless & Nearly Dead to Filming With Steve-O w/Skinny Vinny

Fausto's Room | Skinny Vinny Skinny Vinny has lit himself on fire, jumped off cliffs, and put his body through hell for the shot — but the real stunt was surviving long enough to do any of it. He grew up worshipping Jackass, copying every bit in his backyard, until drugs took over and swallowed fifteen years of his life. Fifteen overdoses. Homelessness. An acceptance that he'd die alone as a heroin addict. Then a free flight to LA — one he only took for the weather — cracked the door open. He got sober, moved into a sober living, and picked up a camera he hadn't touched in fifteen years. One viral video later, he was standing in Bam Margera's castle hearing people call him by name, realizing the attention was better than any drug he'd ever chased. This is the full arc: addiction and accountability, working for free for years to build a career, learning to create for the love and not the numbers, and turning it all into something bigger — The Comeback Sober Living, a community he built so others could get the shot he got. What you'll take away: ✅ Why accountability is the real foundation of long-term recovery ✅ How chasing the work you love can be the thing that keeps you alive ✅ Why "do it for the love, not the money" is a survival skill, not a cliché ✅ How to build a career and a life from scratch, no matter how late you start For anyone who's ever felt too far gone, too far behind, or too broken to come back — and anyone chasing a dream everyone told them was impossible. Chapters: 00:00 Lighting himself on fire: the stunts that nearly cost him 03:31 The Jackass generation: fear, attention, and comedy 08:20 Copying Jackass as a kid — the first stunts 09:29 Fifteen years lost to addiction and identity crises 11:28 What the drugs were really masking 14:34 When it stopped being fun: party drugs to narcotics 16:27 College, overdoses, and rock bottom 20:17 Accountability: cleaning up the wreckage 23:38 Eight years sober and the childhood dream 24:35 Meeting Zach and picking up the camera again 26:31 The viral video and becoming "Skinny Vinny" 28:20 Bam's castle: attention better than any drug 31:36 Steve-O's advice: staying in sober living 35:26 Working for free, doing it for love not money 41:20 The scariest and most painful stunts 50:21 When a video flops, and why you keep going 54:31 Income streams and staying grounded 57:00 Opening The Comeback Sober Living 1:00:19 The Jackass stunt-guessing game 1:11:05 Advice for creators and where to find Vinny 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Connect with Vinny: Instagram: https://instagram.com/skinnyvinny The Comeback Sober Living: https://thecomebacksoberliving.com Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto 🎧 Create. It Took 10 Years to Become an Overnight Success w/Gremlin

Fausto's Room | Gremlin Gremlin grew up feeling like he wasn't the smart kid or the strong kid — so he chased the one thing that made him feel seen: creativity. Gaming, art, skateboarding, and finally music. He started writing raps young and was too nervous to share them with anyone for years, wrestling the same anxiety that can still make a trip to the grocery store feel like a mountain. Then he bet everything on it. A hundred-dollar camera from Best Buy. A first music video he was almost too embarrassed to post. Online rap battles. A talent show where he was shaking in front of the whole school. He kept going — through years where nothing hit — until his Uber Raps took off, and one morning he woke up to a million subscribers and a plaque on the wall. But the real story is what happened after: when the thing that worked stopped working, and he had to pivot, fight imposter syndrome, stay financially disciplined, and prove he was more than one viral idea. This one's about identity, anxiety, mentorship, and building a real career out of pure creativity. What you'll take away: ✅ How to build a following and a career from your creativity — with no blueprint ✅ Why the people around you can make or break your dream ("get new voices") ✅ How to keep going when what once worked suddenly stops ✅ Real talk on anxiety, imposter syndrome, and betting on yourself anyway For anyone who's ever felt unseen, too anxious, or not "good enough" at the normal stuff — and anyone ready to turn a creative gift into a life. 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Follow Gremlin https://www.instagram.com/gremlinraps/ (https://www.instagram.com/gremlinraps/) https://www.youtube.com/@Gremlinmusic24/featured (https://www.youtube.com/@Gremlinmusic24/featured) Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto (https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto) Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto (https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto) TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto (https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto) YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto (https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto) 🎧 Create. How He Beat Addiction and Became a Successful Entrepreneur w/Dane Carter

Fausto's Room | Dane Carter Dane Carter started using as a kid — and lost over 13 years to prison, addiction, and the streets. Weed turned to coke, meth, heroin, and finally fentanyl. Multiple prison terms. A case where he was staring down 70 years. He'll tell you straight — he never got high to die. He liked the feeling. Then the feeling ran his life. At the end, he was using around the clock in a motel room he hadn't left in three weeks. Then a blocked number rang at 9:30 at night — a detox center offering to scholarship his way in if he showed up in 24 hours. He still doesn't know how they got his number. He left everything and went. Today Dane is sober and built Dane Carter Fit — a thriving online fitness coaching brand and community — from the last money he had and no blueprint, just a story he knew could change lives. What you'll take away: ✅ How to build a fitness coaching brand using your testimony ✅ Why your story is your greatest asset — in recovery AND in business ✅ How to bet on yourself with no experience and no blueprint This one's for anyone who's ever felt too young, too far gone, or too deep to come back — and anyone ready to turn pain into purpose and a real career. 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts & Spotify Follow Fausto: Instagram: https://instagram.com/hopedealerfausto Facebook: https://facebook.com/hopedealerfausto TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@hopedealerfausto YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hopedealerfausto 🎧 Create.
