Saul Accepted | Acts 9:19-31 | Pastor Josh Wootton
In Acts 9:19–31, we see that God’s grace does not stop when He saves us—it continues to strengthen us so that we can faithfully follow His calling in every circumstance. After Saul’s dramatic conversion, he immediately begins proclaiming that Jesus is the Son of God, demonstrating that God had not only changed his heart but had also transformed his understanding of who Jesus is.
As Saul boldly defends the truth of Christ, he faces persecution from the outside and rejection from within the church, yet God provides exactly what he needs to persevere. Through the friendship and encouragement of Barnabas, Saul is welcomed into the church and continues faithfully serving Christ. The result is a growing, strengthened church that walks in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
In this sermon, “Saul Accepted,” we’ll see how God strengthens His people in theology, apologetics, outside difficulty, inside difficulty, and even success. Ultimately, we’ll see that Christ Himself is the grace of God lived out—the One who gives us everything we need to remain faithful, endure hardship, love His church, and continue following God’s calling wherever He leads us.

God Scatters His People | Acts 8:1-25 | Pastor Josh Wootton
In Acts 8:1–25, God uses the persecution and scattering of His people to spread the greatness of Christ beyond Jerusalem and throughout the world. As the church is attacked and believers are dispersed, Philip goes to Samaria preaching the good news of salvation through Christ, and the people respond with great joy as they discover that Jesus is greater than anything this world has to offer.
Yet the passage also introduces Simon the magician, whose pursuit of greatness provides a warning about the danger of being captivated by counterfeits and even trying to use God as a means to achieve something greater for ourselves. As the Samaritans encounter the true greatness of Christ, the contrast between what merely looks great and what is truly great becomes unmistakable.
In this sermon, “God Scatters His People,” we’ll see how God spreads His greatness through His people, how we can recognize the difference between the counterfeit and the real, and how salvation means more than simply admiring God’s greatness—it means receiving Christ and being transformed by His Spirit. Ultimately, we are called to forsake the lesser greatnesses of this world, bask in the surpassing greatness of Christ, and make His greatness known wherever God sends us.

Stephen's Example | Acts 6:8-7:60 | Pastor Josh Wootton
In Acts 6:8–7:60, Stephen faced a world that rejected the truth of God and ultimately killed him for faithfully proclaiming it. Accused of speaking against God’s law and the temple, Stephen responded by tracing Israel’s history and showing that the real problem was not that he had changed God’s law or worship, but that they had repeatedly rejected the people God sent, distorted true worship, and ultimately rejected Jesus, the Messiah.
Stephen’s confidence came from knowing that God had revealed Himself through His Word and that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of God’s promises, the true Redeemer, and the only One worthy of worship. Even as he was being stoned, Stephen remained faithful, looking to Christ and trusting that what appears to be loss in this life is eternal gain in the life to come.
In this sermon, “Stephen’s Example,” we’ll see what it means to rightly follow God’s law and worship, how to recognize and expose false worship, and how knowing Christ gives us the confidence to remain faithful—even when the world hates us—for we know that only what is done for Christ will last.
