Today I talk with the legend that is Risa Bramon Garcia. The director of 200 Cigarettes, a movie that has finally been released into the streaming wild. And the casting director of just a few tiny movies like Twister, Speed, True Romance, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Wall Street, Fatal Attraction, JFK, Uncle Buck, Natural Born Killers, Desperately Seeking Susan, Sweet November, How to Make an American Quilt, and a million more. We talk about her sharing an office with Oliver Stone, filmmaking advice from Ben Stiller, the debut of Kate Hudson and Courtney Love, and test audiences saying Paul Rudd is falling down too often in scenes. Link in bio for a wonderful conversation about how 200 Cigarettes came to be, who almost played Janeane Garofalo's part, and the intersection of casting and directing.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Jillie!
Today I talk with singer/songwriter Jillie about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! Is this a rom com? The answer is, kinda! This movie basically took the question “is it better to have love and lost or never to have loved before” and ran with it. We talk about the kind of friend Clementine would be, the movie Shopgirl, my unfair disdain for Zach Braff, and that guy I dated who said he couldn’t come to my dad’s funeral because he didn’t have pants. We finally concluded that yes, it is better to have loved and lost, but then to go to therapy and get over the loss instead of having your memory erased. Find Jillie’s music on Spotify and at Jilliemusic.com!
