Student to District VP: Journeys in Advisor Sales | Episode 82

Fidelity's Advisor Sales department is a great place for young professionals to rise through the ranks and establish their careers in the financial services industry. Many members of this department started out as co-op students and have grown through multiple different roles on their journey up the advisor sales career ladder. Both of today's guests are former co-op students and have now found a permanent place in the Advisor Sales team. Joining host Tamara Radocaj today are senior business development manager Nicole Dungey, and Business Development Representative Ariana Bill. They provide an overview of the sales development program at Fidelity that allows employees to be promoted through various different roles in the first years of their career, from business development representative to associate, manager, and senior manager roles, eventually leading up to the district vice president role. To find success in this competitive sales environment, they discuss the different sales styles they have observed, and share advice on finding an authentic approach that aligns with one's personality. They also share their experience with various projects and initiatives at Fidelity, both as co-op students and full-time employees, and emphasize the strong culture, training, and development opportunities at Fidelity, which make it an attractive workplace for young professionals.

Tips from a campus recruiter: How to stand out in your co-op interview | Episode 81

On today's episode, host Emily Anonuevo is joined by Campus Relations Specialist Aneesah Rashad, to discuss the student recruitment process and opportunities available at Fidelity. Aneesah's responsibilities include hiring 60-80 students every four months, promoting Fidelity's brand on campuses, building relationships with universities and colleges, and providing advice to students on improving their resumes, applications, and interview skills. Aneesah goes into detail about the student recruitment process at Fidelity, which involves a two-week application window, followed by interviews and onboarding for successful candidates. How candidates present themselves in these interviews is vital for their advancement, which is why Aneesah goes over how to prepare for some of the most important interview questions, such as "Tell me about yourself", "Why do you want to work here?", "Why this role?", "Describe your strengths and weaknesses" and "How would you solve a conflict without much guidance". Fidelity offers a wide range of roles beyond finance and business, many of which Aneesah cover's on today's episode, in departments like sales, human resources, marketing, and technology. Students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, as the company values transferable skills.
