Join us as we explore the inspiring journey of Vito Labella, a dedicated public servant with a vision for a brighter future for all. Whether you're a resident of the district or simply passionate about liberty and justice, Labella is a role model abroad. About: After serving New York City for 32 years with the NYPD, Vito dedicated his time to volunteering at the 9/11 Tribute Museum and serving the families of Brooklyn. In 2018, when the last New York City administration targeted Asian students because Christa McAuliffe Middle School was “too successful” in sending kids to Stuyvesant and Brooklyn Tech. Families asked for help—and Vito stepped up. With the help of his wife, Kim, Vito helped organize families, held press conferences, staged protests and marched on City Hall. Vito also testified before the City Council, NYS Assembly, and NYS Senate to advocate for parents within the community. He co-founded PLACE NYC (placenyc.org), an organization that focuses on expanding school choice and gifted programs in the New York Public Schools System. Vito also ran and was elected (twice) to the Community Education Council. Vito works tirelessly for accelerated education, as well as safety and improved accountability, integrity, and transparency in the city’s public school system. Last year, Vito came remarkably close to victory in a competitive State Senate race, losing by a mere few hundred votes in the area that encompasses the new 43rd City Council District. Throughout that campaign, the concerns of the people in South Brooklyn came through loud and clear: The city faces distressing issues like increased crime rates, rampant shoplifting, mental health challenges, homelessness, and violations of civil rights. Progressive officials have been silent or dismissive of these concerns. Vito believes we need to keep fighting for our community and deliver conservative policy solutions to these problems. Working together we can stop the outflow of families from our schools and our city. He continues to believe that South Brooklyn can be a place for families and their children to plant roots and thrive. As your Councilman, Vito will build on his years of service in the community to help improve the quality of life in Brooklyn’s new 43rd City Council District.

Why New York Needs Criminal Justice Reform: Vito LaBella Discusses Key Issues

Vito LaBella is a candidate for the state senate in New York's 26th district. With a firm stance on law enforcement policies, LaBella has expressed strong opposition to the "Defund the Police" movement, a concept he considers overly simplistic and counterproductive. He notes that since 2019, and more prominently from 2023, efforts led by the Working Families Party and the Democratic Socialists of America in Albany have not only focused on reallocating police budgets but also on extensively restructuring the entire criminal justice system. LaBella draws attention to the complexity and impact of these legislative changes, suggesting that merely restoring funding would not address the deeper issues at hand. His campaign emphasizes a pragmatic approach to criminal justice, aiming to ensure effective law enforcement while addressing systemic concerns. Learn more at vitolabellaforny.com
