Looking for People to Fill Spaces Only God Can
We are in 1 Samuel 8-9 today. The Israelites want a king to judge them, lead them and fight their battles. They want to be like other nations. We do the same thing. We are looking for things and people to fill spaces only God can. When we take in who God is and His love for us, this is what really fills us. We know He is king. We are after His approval and He is our guide. Taking in so deeply Ephesians 3:17-19- And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. He is the way!

Samuel, making God first in our lives
We all have meals to cook, houses to clean and deadlines. But Samuel shows us, to turn to God, and make Him first. Even with the business, we can chose Him. Whatever battles we are facing, God is the one thing that is necessary. And we learn from Samuel to turn to Him with all of our hearts.

Hannah, Praying it out and Giving our Burdens to God
Hannah has this desire on her heart to have a baby, and it is not happening. Through her story in 1 Samuel 1, we learn what to do when we feel so low, so heart broken. What does Hannah do? She prays it out and gives it to God. It is so hard, but we can do this. It takes faith and trust in God to let go of our burdens. We learn in Psalm 55:22 and in Matthew 11:28-30 to give our struggles to God. So thankful for Hannah’s story and how we can learn from her faith.
