Deutsche Bank really was an international institution from the outset, namely for supporting foreign trade. And that was the reason why the bank was called Deutsche Bank, German bank. Before that time, German merchants needed British banks and French banks to make that foreign trade. And now a German bank, Deutsche Bank, could do that. And that was the reason for that simple name, which lasts until now. Yeah, I've always thought this going together with the creation of nation states and the creation of a strong bank So it might be a strong national bank, but all the national banks in Europe in the beginning, there were no central banks like we know them today.
