[…] So the threshold for most sovereigns in Africa of a debt to GDP is at 55%. Right. On average, most sovereigns have breached that threshold at the moment. And the breach had been quite severe post-COVID. Right. And it has been breaching on average of 60% to GDP for the continent for a while. Many of us were very optimistic because... Two years ago, most sovereigns implemented a very steep fiscal measure to sort of correct the challenges we faced post-COVID. But the recent crisis in Iran appeared to also be having a bit of an impact on the downward trajectory that we are seeing. But I mean, clearly, most sovereigns have breached that threshold of 55% to GDP of debt. […]
