[…] I couldn't have survived in the city on that, but I slowly like worked my way up. And then this position opened where they were like, you should apply for this position as the director of this outpatient substance use treatment program. I never wanted to work with adults. I was adamant kids only. But I was like, okay, does it pay more? Like, should I apply? So I did. And that job really changed my life in a lot of ways. Being able to put my grief into action in a lot of ways really helped my process of grieving and processing and feeling I worked with people who were living in the shelter or unhoused so They were they were really really in need of support and sometimes just being like a listening ear or someone who like saw them could be so powerful and that was so mutually beneficial like that really allowed me space to talk about my brother and also feel all the feelings that other people are experiencing too, and kind of put it at the forefront for so long.
