#8 - Jumping the Gun - Fintech Between Regulatory Overload, Supervisory Arbitrage & the Cost Dilemma
The volume and complexity of European financial market regulation has increased continuously since the introduction of the first market frameworks. It is difficult for innovative digital business models to overcome entry barriers. Once they are in the market, regulatory transition and maintenance costs can be significant. DORA is just the tip of the iceberg! Is there a perfect way to deal with regulation? This episode is not about a specific solution, but rather the regulation that has emerged since the 2009 Pittsburgh Summit - regulation that has often enticed fintechs to look for the best NCA, or even to flee (back) into the Grey Capital Market. In this episode, three seasoned experts review the past, the present and the future from different perspectives. Speaker: Ruta Merkevičiūtė, Head of the Digital Finance Unit @ the European Banking Authority in Paris David Eckner, Counsel @ Chartered Investment from Düsseldorf in Germany Darren Nesbitt, CEO @ EuroABS from London Host: Constantin Fabricius, Managing Director @ Digital Lending Association Subscribe to stay updated on new episodes!
