“Beyond Sunday” Sermon Series, Week 2 – Rev. Ben Alexander (First on Chatham)
First Cary UMC’s First on Chatham Sermon – Rev. Ben Alexander – October 11, 2026
We spend an enormous portion of our lives working, yet we often separate our work from our faith. Scripture offers a different vision: work was part of God's good creation from the very beginning. Whether we're building a career, raising children, caring for a home, volunteering, or navigating retirement, our daily work can become a way of participating in God's work in the world. This week, we'll explore Ecclesiastes 3 and Colossians 3 and discover what it means to find purpose, dignity, and even joy in the work God has given us to do.

First Cary UMC’s First on Chatham Sermon – Rev. Kollin Absher-Baer – October 4, 2026
What if holiness isn't something reserved for extraordinary moments? Paul points us toward a very ordinary kind of holiness in Colossians 3:12-17: compassion, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, gratitude, and love. These aren't abstract virtues; they're lived out in the places where life actually happens: around the dinner table, in family relationships, during disagreements, and in the daily routines we sometimes take for granted. This week, we'll discover that God is forming us not only through worship and prayer, but through the seemingly mundane moments of everyday life.
