The 10 DAD Commandments - #9 - Father for the Day
when we attempt to instill certain behaviors or counter / curb certain behaviors we sometimes are parenting out of fear. We need to address the situation as it presents itself and do the work needed on a regular basis. Sometimes the fear of a behavior in the future, or lack of manners, or however it manifests to you outweighs the action and distress and confusion of your kids actions to them. They are acting out from a place of uncomfortability and confusion and are looking to you for leadership and guidance. So when you act from a place of attempting to instill a behavior in the future you run the risk of displaying a leader who is also not in control and this can frighten you kids even more, solidifying a negative pattern behavior when your intention was to do the opposite.
