As a final defiant Minnesotan holler echoes through the Scottish highlands, The Ankler’s Richard Rushfield and Shōgun writer Emily Yoshida discuss a heartbreaking episode and the loss of a fan favorite. But before we do, Emily reports from her visit to the Traitors Experience in Los Angeles this past week, and what it was like to take on missions and hold her own at the round table with a group of Traitors stans and actors in kilts at an OTT L.A. mansion.
This week’s tearful round table was a lot to take in — literally screaming and crying and shaking on the floor over here — but between contestants’ tweets and podcast interviews, the game’s off-screen “meta” story is becoming impossible to ignore. We dive into that, and some possible major problems the producers are going to have to address for the next season, but most importantly, pay our respects to the Tattooed Goddess Carolyn Wiger. We also take a listener call about the Official Traitors Rulebook and how its interpretation may be affecting some players’ strategy.

Together they discuss the better-late-than-never emergence of Sam Asghari as an entity on this show, the third unearthing of the unkillable Coffin Theory, and an unfortunately wildly successful episode for Tom Sandoval, both in the castle and perhaps in his long future career as a reality TV gamer. And they speculate how the latest clash of Danielle and Carolyn will shake out, and try to predict who the Traitors will seduce or destroy.

In his wake, we wonder: where does this leave the remaining faithful without a de facto leader — traitor or otherwise? Do Britney and Dylan have what it takes to get to the Final? Has Tom Sandoval at last been redeemed as a guy who’s “not totally useless all the time”? And what will be the lasting trauma of the most disgusting televised wedding this side of Bachelor Nation?
