Core Values: Why Good Habits Retire Your Values

The values most likely to go quiet on you are not the ones you break. They are the ones you keep. Give every value a behavior. That advice is right, and the reasoning under it is right: a value that exists only as a definition is an aspiration, and a value that generates a specific repeatable action starts becoming identity. So you build the pairs, you attach them to routines that already run, and it works. That is where the trouble starts. A value has no edges. It applies wherever it applies, at whatever hour the situation shows up. A habit has edges by design: a start, an end, a place, a duration. Attach one to the other and you have converted something unbounded into something completable. Completable things get completed, and completed things close. So the value now has office hours. In force inside the window. Settled outside it, because you already paid. The habit was supposed to be evidence of the value. It becomes a receipt for it instead. **In this episode:** - Why the standard values-and-habits advice is correct, and what it costs you anyway - The Office Hours mechanism, and how a habit bounds the value it expresses - Why capable people lose values faster than disorganised ones - The morning in Tenerife when every marker was green and the thing being measured had already left - Reps vs tests, and the one question your alignment audit is missing - The Discharge Line exercise, in full Recorded in one take, unedited.☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎Three ways in 👇☀︎ Live coaching every Thursday. Why Your Core Values Aren't Working: You Cannot Break a Word

Live coaching every Thursday. Group session, no cost. ( https://www.everydayactioncoach.com/live) You named your values. You never defined them. That gap is why they stop working the second a decision actually costs you something. A value you have named but never turned into a rule is a Placeholder. It holds the space where a rule should sit, it performs beautifully in conversation, and it returns nothing when you actually need it. Because you cannot break a word. You can only break a rule. In this episode: why naming your core values feels like finishing but produces nothing operational, the four checks that turn a value into a working definition (Personal, Clear, Actionable, Breakable), and a live walkthrough of the exercise so you finish with one sentence you can actually violate. Recorded in one take, unedited.

You Don’t Need More Time. You Need Better Priorities.

Join EverydayAction for free (https://www.everydayactioncoach.com/offers/gDJxqSn8/checkout) In this episode of FlowState, I’m talking about time management, prioritization, energy, values, and the structure required to create real momentum. This is not about doing more for the sake of doing more. It is about understanding what matters, filtering out what does not, protecting your energy, and taking aligned action. I walk through the Growth Blueprint framework, including assessment and readiness, vitality, sleep, values, mindset, time management, aligned goals, and optimization. I also share why the 3-2-1 evening routine is one of the simplest ways to start rebuilding your capacity. If you feel scattered, stuck, overwhelmed, or like you are constantly reacting to life, this episode is a reminder: you do not need more motivation. You need more clarity, better structure, and priorities that actually reflect the life you want to build.
