[…] We desperately need a conversation here on what might have gone wrong. And I'm still phrasing it as a question because I don't know. And most Israelis don't know. We don't have anywhere near a total picture. What we all or most of us do sense is that the total picture that's being presented in that film is a lie. And so the question that we have to start confronting is is did we abuse the category of, as you call it, collateral killings, which is an inevitable category in any war, even more so in a war under the conditions that the IDF had to fight, where we're fighting an enemy that doesn't wear uniforms, that deliberately blends in with civilian society, that takes over civilian infrastructure like hospitals, And generally, when Israelis discuss the question of collateral damage, it ends there.
